How did the relationship get started with Dre and Stoute? I know Dre did some work on the Firm album which is in part Stoute via Trackmasters. :jbhmm:

I always knew about Dre part but Snoop too? Interesting. Jay does have a lot of Ghostwriting receipts. Matter a fact the NY Holy Trinity (Big, Jay, Nas) got some serious ghostwriting heat where the people sold mad records off their lyrics. So Jay is basically responsible for Legendary Cali Classic. What's funny was back in 99 I was in college. I copped the album and rolled up like 10 L's and listened to it straight through. I told my boy when it came out I thought someone from the Eastcoast wrote it because of the flow but Dre swag was still there so I wasn't sure. A lot people didn't believe it back then but I always read the credits in the CD booklet and I saw (S. Carter) and my jaw dropped. Jay did a great job fitting Dre's style.

You answered your question. Stoute was an EP on "The Firm" album with Dre. He was coming off "I.W.W." with NaS and that was the album where NaS and Dre collaborated first which was the birth of the idea for him to produce "The Firm" album. And honestly till this day, I think the album gets some unjust hate. It's sound is definitely a product of that time but there were several bangers on that album. I just think us NaS fans wanted him on every single song but it was highlighting all the members.

Nah I think the problem people had with the firm album is it didn't feel like a firm album. shyt was all over the place. They didn't have much records together as a click. The shyt felt more like a compilation and on top of that , nikkaz was wondering where the fukk was mega at? Album was a disappointment to me and my nikkaz on the block in 97.
