To be fair he’s never said it himself. He also has no allegiance or connection to Steve Stoute.

Many artists in their prime turn down the Super Bowl because it’s turned into a legacy/washed act performance. The only prime artists in the past 20 years are basically The Weeknd and Bruno Mars.

It’s not like back in the day when they made Mike Jack an offer he couldn’t refuse to help save the halftime show after In Living Color crushed them.

If you don’t need the spike in streams, it’s more trouble than it’s worth. People are just going to bash the performance on Twitter (whether it’s good or bad) and make memes about it. If you’re Drake or Taylor Swift, it’s no point.

There are a few other artists that did it in their prime (Justin, Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Katy) in the last twenty years, but I get your point.
