Never understood why he used to defer to Jamal Crawford down the stretch of close games when they were in NY. Craw was guaranteed to shoot a step back 3 or some kinda jumper. Nobody could stop Steph from getting anywhere on the court AND he used to get some benefit of the doubt calls. Definitely more than Craw at that time. shyt used to make me :why:

That 50 point game against the Lakers was one of the 16 games in his Nets career that he played with K-Mart and Keith Van Horn in the same line up.

that was my squad :to: keith was givin nikkas 18 and 8. kenyon was young and they had the young sjax... but the center position was so trash and keith broke his ankle

i always felt like marbury was d.roses prototype

larry brown was tryin to turn him into andre miller
isiah thomas wanted to turn him into john stockton or somethin
and eventually just didnt want him there at all
dantoni wanted him to come off the bench for chris duhon:comeon:

they wouldnt just let him play his game and let him do what he does best
he was tryin to please everybody instead of just playin his game

he was criticized a lot for not being like kidd and nash

todays nba's different, scoring point guards are celebrated

jamal crawford missed so many of those shots too:merchant:

and yet people to this day still swear up & down that J.Kidd inherited the exact same squad that Marbury left

Kerry Kittles missed that entire 2001 season too.

To this day one of my favorite players...despite the vaseline and those dark years in NY...dude was just too talented, quick, strong, crazy J, court vision, crazy hops, got to the rim...in the right mindset/system I don't see many of the current PGs that would be better than him...I've actually always thought that he had a higher ceiling and was more sound than the Answer (who's also one of my favorite all time).

Happy that he finally seems to have found some peace out in China...

He was Derrick Rose before Derrick Rose :manny:

They hype surrounding him was MASSIVE.Slam Magazine covered him since he was in like the 6th grade.I'm talking Lebron James hype.

His first couple of years in the league, most people thought he was the future of the PG position....from '96-'2000....some even argued he was the best pg in basketball.

He lost control when he left the Timberwolves. That's when he said fukk it and took on a score first mentality. He was more of a pure point in Minnesota

I think as a prospect coming into the league, he was just as talented as Derrick Rose.In fact, I'd say he had slightly better court vision/ passing ability and a better jump shot than Rose.I think Rose is a bit more athletic, but Steph wasn't no slouch in that area, neither

Just look at that reverse alley hoop....like you said, you don't see to many pg's doing shyt like that

This is how the NBA media are such hypocrites. Steph used to mostly get his teammates off early, then score later if he had to. They called that "stat padding" and said he needs to defer more. Basically everything that Rose gets praise for now. he did get a bad rap, probably because most of his teammates hated him but his talent was like very few. 20 & 8 without really turning the ball over, great finisher, great court vision and awareness, nice midrange. The politics of the nba.

I remember when they traded kidd for Steph and Marion was upset saying "I'm not gonna get many touches anymore". Matrix shut up quickly and became an all-star.

larry brown was tryin to turn him into andre miller Agree
isiah thomas wanted to turn him into john stockton or somethin Disagree. Isiah knew the player he traded for. He knew Steph was more an "Isiah" than a "Stockton"
and eventually just didnt want him there at allTrue. From that sex suit shyt.
dantoni wanted him to come off the bench for chris duhon:comeon: fakkit ass Dantoni didnt want to play him at all. He tried to do Steph dirty by tryna play him that 1 game Steph refused to check in.
