If an app goes through Silicon Valley, (which I'm assuming Stephen got some consulting from the folks there based on his backing and him living in that area) it usually makes it with a good idea that this is gonna appeal to some niche.
This app clearly appeals to the media consultants that work for athletes, which tend to be pretty wealthy and sizable. You also have the more serious fan, who gets tired of the bullshyt corn you see in Facebook comments and twitter profiles.
If this is marketed correctly, there's no reason this app shouldn't have a somewhat consistent core userbase.
