@Anerdyblackguy Respectfully, this is bullshyt. Huge budgets cuts were scheduled in order to fund the immigrants. Enough NY'ers got in Eric Adams ear that he shut all that shyt down TODAY.

In an exclusive interview with Eyewitness News, Mayor Eric Adams announced Wednesday morning that drastic city budget cuts proposed for the coming fiscal year across all municipal agencies will be canceled and a hiring freeze will be lifted.

Adams explained that his administration is achieving this because of a "better-than-expected economic performance in 2023 that resulted in an upward revision to the city's tax revenue forecast" and further cutbacks in city spending on asylum seekers.

"You're not going to see some of those draconian steps that we were going to have to take that will get in the way of the cleanliness and the safety of our city," Adams said.

Adams says New Yorkers should feel relieved. After two rounds of punishing budget cuts to all but the most essential city services, the budget is stabilizing. And a planned third round will no longer be necessary.

Eyewitness News asked the mayor what it all means for New Yorkers.

"Well, if we had to do the third rounds, it will impact garbage pickup, it will impact our services to our older adults, it will impact libraries, you will impact a series of services that you will actually see the difference," Adams said. "We're not going to have to do those third rounds, that third round of cuts to our agencies."

With respect to migrants, the administration is slashing an additional 10% in asylum seeker spending --bringing the total reduction in spending on migrants to 30% -- after a 20% reduction in spending already announced during the Preliminary Budget.

I believe that was due to the budget surplus in the city (https://www.crainsnewyork.com/politics-policy/nyc-budget-surplus-exceeds-mayors-estimate-nearly-3b

You’re right about one thing there was political pressure (Salute Adrianna Adams) but he doesn’t fall back without this surplus.

:skip: Yeah. The point is, cuts on services were, in fact, scheduled. The migrant issue was apparently effecting the city's budget to the extent that "draconian" cuts were scheduled, but a lucky windfall saved the day at the last minute.

Black Self-Sufficiency
The simple problem is too many of our people who make it out of poverty look down on those of our people who have not. So, they have no sympathy for Black people struggling and resources being stolen from them to give to illegal immigrants. They align themselves with White liberals more than they do with the poor among our people. So you see them support all sorts of policies that harm our people, as long as it does not directly harm them.

They can act like they are world citizens and show compassion for the less fortunate, and that less fortunate is determined by the narrative handed to them by the elites. They can walk each day past struggling Black people and not think about it, because at the end of the day, it does not affect them personally. So it goes back to my assertion that many of them have no sympathy nor empathy for the plight of our people who are struggling. They don't care, because they were told not to care by their political party. Which proves they are just mirror images of what they claim they are against.

Repped. I'm doing good, a property owner and all, but I still worry about my nikkas in NYCHA, the babies who need a library... I don't know how you can overlook them.

fukk them new nikkas and I don't give a damn who don't like it. Speaking of CUNY, my grandparents paid taxes into this system when we were still segregated from utilizing the services. Let them put in for a generation or two and not get nothing back.

Economics is a team sport. If you want your team to win, you must support it to the detriment of all others.

I rather give money to immigrants. :yeshrug: If you're homeless in the land of opportunity, you probably made a lot poor life choices.
