Do you know a first step is just going right

No fakes no tricking the defender with momentum to go the other way

A first step eliminates all that nonsense

But I'll let you tell it tatum got a dwade first step

but... those are not "ELITE"

they are definitely NBA level first step...but those vids showed defenders closing in or defenders getting screened...... their momentum or stoppage helps JT by doing 90% of the job...

elite first steps means the defender is in front of you.. waiting for your move..and your beat them off before they could even react..and yes..were talking against elite defenders..

so far that twitch in your gifs is just ok...

That's not a death sentence though, there are tons of great players without an elite first step. It'd be nice if he had one tho

Half of those were straight up bad defense

The other half were nice fake and go moves but they all required the threat of the open 3.

If he has a good defender sagging off him he's not beating them w/his first step. He needs at least a dribble move.

An NBA level "elite" first step is unstoppable. You can get to any spot on the court without the use of a screen or a dribble move. Think Tony Parker, Russell Westbrook, (Celtics) Isiaiah Thomas, Monta Ellis level quick.

Tatum isn't on that level. But he's 6'8" and a lights out shooter so he doesnt have to be.

Yea fasho, Tatum is elite as a triple threat scorer but thats kinda getting phased out if u aint shooting 50+% from the field, he will be a 23-25ppg nikka a bunch of years though
