that is true..these days i lay off porter because i used to criticize him alot...he is effective with the shyt he does but it depends on the type of opponent..he is a guy that has fought up to SMW and he is strong as shyt..brook had the strength and size to keep him at bay and counter him at will...julio diaz in the first fight landed rights at will and also surprisingly won the battle on the inside with effective body punching .berto has never shown me any real ability to adjust (
@LauderdaleBoss please correct me if im wrong about this) and in recent times his power is bailing him out...age, wars, and injuries have diminished alot of berto's athletic ability but he is more patient than he used to be..for berto to win he is going to have to box him...he does a have good jab when he decides to use it...a lot of sticking and moving to nullify porter's workrate and pray he lands that uppercut of his to make him think twice
Yeah Berto's athletic ability has diminished a bit. Dude is still quick and powerful as shyt when it comes to punching, but that's about it. He's not as explosive as he used to be but I think Virgil Hunter has something to do with that too, not just the injuries and constant fades.
Virgil makes nikkas slow down their offense a bit and turn shyt into boxing matches, this is cool to an extent for cerebral guys like Ward, but quick trigger athletic boxers like Khan and Berto it hurts them a lil bit since they start waiting more often which allows guys to attack them and get of shots constantly.
Berto/Khan struggle with nikkas that attack them. Porter is like the king of attacking nikkas. He'll pressure the fukk outta Berto and Berto never really had the physical strength to wrestle on the inside so he gotta time dude with sharp counters right before the distance is closed.
Porter is a sucker for sharp countering and Berto is deadly with that, especially the uppercut and left hook. Berto is a sucker for pressure and workrate. Both guys strengths is the other guy's weakness.
I just think Porter is the fresher of the two, but also slightly better. He's understandably the favorite. Berto is live though.
Berto is a B level guy, Porter is a B+ guy. Porter will prolly win by decision or late ko, and if Berto wins it'll be by KO. I don't think he can outbox Porter in long enough stretches to get a decision.
