that is true..these days i lay off porter because i used to criticize him alot...he is effective with the shyt he does but it depends on the type of opponent..he is a guy that has fought up to SMW and he is strong as shyt..brook had the strength and size to keep him at bay and counter him at will...julio diaz in the first fight landed rights at will and also surprisingly won the battle on the inside with effective body punching .berto has never shown me any real ability to adjust (@LauderdaleBoss please correct me if im wrong about this) and in recent times his power is bailing him out...age, wars, and injuries have diminished alot of berto's athletic ability but he is more patient than he used to be..for berto to win he is going to have to box him...he does a have good jab when he decides to use it...a lot of sticking and moving to nullify porter's workrate and pray he lands that uppercut of his to make him think twice
Yeah that is true I don't think he adjusts too well. He has a ridiculous amount of willpower and heart though. People overlook the fact that he fought most of the Soto Karass match with a torn shoulder. His heart and willingness to exchange can be to his detriment as with the Collazo fight where he fought on the inside way too much and that isn't his strength. I know this sounds odd but think that if the Berto that showed up against Floyd shows up though he will make it a tough fight. But Shawn Porter is damn quick and cuts that ring off like nobody's business.

Yeah Berto's athletic ability has diminished a bit. Dude is still quick and powerful as shyt when it comes to punching, but that's about it. He's not as explosive as he used to be but I think Virgil Hunter has something to do with that too, not just the injuries and constant fades.

Virgil makes nikkas slow down their offense a bit and turn shyt into boxing matches, this is cool to an extent for cerebral guys like Ward, but quick trigger athletic boxers like Khan and Berto it hurts them a lil bit since they start waiting more often which allows guys to attack them and get of shots constantly.

Berto/Khan struggle with nikkas that attack them. Porter is like the king of attacking nikkas. He'll pressure the fukk outta Berto and Berto never really had the physical strength to wrestle on the inside so he gotta time dude with sharp counters right before the distance is closed.

Porter is a sucker for sharp countering and Berto is deadly with that, especially the uppercut and left hook. Berto is a sucker for pressure and workrate. Both guys strengths is the other guy's weakness.
I just think Porter is the fresher of the two, but also slightly better. He's understandably the favorite. Berto is live though.

Berto is a B level guy, Porter is a B+ guy. Porter will prolly win by decision or late ko, and if Berto wins it'll be by KO. I don't think he can outbox Porter in long enough stretches to get a decision.

for a guy who roided up and has his type of punching power, i never really understand why he was muscled around by cats like robert guerrero

i dont think ive seen berto sit down and box for a stretch since his fight with urango..he fought extra careful with him which was surprising...and as surprising as on the same card watching cintron box angulo's ears off and take his zero...that was a weird night of boxing for me :hhh:

True, but you know power punching doesn't always equate to physical strength. I still can't believe Ghost bullied Berto the way he did. shyt was almost as bad as when Salido bullied him.

Berto was skittish as fukk against Urango who was actually the smaller man that night. That fight was down here and I'm glad I didn't attend. That fight was a snoozer. Cintron was bombing out a sick Angulo early and then decided to play it safe during the 2nd half.

Definitely a weird night of boxing. Cintron is involved in a lot of those for some reason (double KO with Sergio, Raiden from MK style leap through the ropes against PWill):snoop:

this shyt is laughable.

hatley opened up as a 6-1 dog now 11-1 :dead:. does anyone actually but this? the way jackson was outboxing him considering he ain't that good either told me all i need to know. flat footed and can't cut off the ring. hatley a better boxer than jackson but only thing that concern me with him is his chin and he's been on the shelf for 16 months, charlo ain't fought in almost year himself.

the disrespect for berto :snoop: he opened up a 3-1 dog, thought it would come down but he almost a 5 :damn: this is a 50/50 fight imo. i know porter put up a hell of a fight against thurman but he is not head and shoulders above berto like that. he has less wear and tear of the two but, it ain't like berto just became bum status overnight. i think porter should have gotten another fight in to stay active. this just might be berto's last shot :jbhmm:

I think Berto can pull this off, Porter's sloppiness can be exploited. Berto is the type to go out on his shield and I can see him landing something tough/signifying in an exchange.

Sumo wrestling with wild punches...

He loses to anyone with above average boxing ability and power in regards to these higher level boxers.

Berto should have the strength and boxing ability to do what Broner couldn't do but Kell brook and Keith Thurman did.

Porters style makes fighters uncomfortable and fights look bad... He just mauls like a UFC nikka... Just smother his own punches and doesnt even care. If you let your hands go you can school him like Kell brook did

Both of them won close fights over Porter....Thurman was even booed when the results were read.

It's not easy to beat Porter and Berto doesn't possess the talent to beat him.

Yes he is head and shoulders above Berto.

Berto been a bum since JSK finished him.....he's a gatekeeper with a name at this point.

Berto has won against tougher opposition since that fight imo...

And then facing Floyd was an experience I think he learned from.

Only person of note that Porter has won over imo is Devon Alexander.

He lost to his only 2 really good fighters in past few fights. I don't claim Broner as such because he did the exact opposite of what he shouldve done and always does dumb shyt when he fights against someone that can shoot him into the superstar status he claims to be.

I can see this going in Porters way for being the younger fighter but dudes boxing is atrocious to watch most of the time. Its not even boxing.

I think if Broner can put him down so can Berto... But I also seen think Berto can be put down as well.

If Berto does go down, fatigue might be the main reason. Berto is slick and has power/strength/speed to drop Porter at least once. Plus he's not afraid to let his hands go and I think he will do better inside than Thurman could.

It can go either way imo but I want Berto to win

We haven't seen Ber:to: beat even a B fighter since getting busted for PEDs...on Saturday, Porter is gonna beat him as well. If Porter wasn't that good, both Thurman and Brook would've had a easy night with him being they are better technically.

I cant believe so many of yall believe in Ber:to: to beat Porter though, it must be because he was on Fight Night back in the days:heh:

ive never believed in berto...for somebody who had his physical gifts i could never understand why he fought so stupid..and thats just limiting my criticism to his boxing only..he struggles way too much...hell when's the last fight he was in that he didnt noticeably struggle, win or lose?

hell i think porter is an overachiever with what he's accomplished but i think its just he's fighting in the right division...going down to WW was the best career decision he ever made
