"I was at a bar the other day and some clown told me Kobe Bryant isn't a top 20 player. I didn't know if I should laugh or cry. There has been a cultural shift in the NBA and it's breaking my heart. We used to respect the opinions of coaches and players, now we listen to stat geeks who can't chew gum and tie their shoes at the same time. Nobody wants to use game footage as the basis of basketball debates anymore, everybody wants to extract data and do algorithms and all other types of nerd sh*t. It has become painstakingly clear that statistics have failed Kobe Bryant."

I agree

Kobe has one of the 2 worst supporting casts in the NBA right now, but if they weren't tanking they would probably be 7-9 instead of 3-13. A 36 year old Kobe Bryant has the ability to will a team full of 8th man level players to victory solely by playing "the right way". People refuse to accept this fact because there is no stat that can quantify it.

Have statistics ever failed another player as bad as they've consistently failed Kobe?

I dont think so...currently Carmelo's probably the runner up

On the other hand stats have really helped Rondo who along with Kevin Love (prior to this season) are two of the greatest stat padders of all time

Yeah. fukking statistics and its inability to account for pure hypotheticals. . I mean, what's the use of science and math if they can't explain how I got my nephew's nose?

Kobe's shooting 38.8%...Hardens shooting 39.3%

Harden has a higher FG%, 3P%, FT% and averages more rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. Neither plays any defense at this point so it's not like that matters :manny:

Nice to see stubborn NBA catching up to the stubborn baseball fans from 2007
