I really do hope this is a success, DC has been ignoring static lately. Also there NEEDS to be a black writer on the show or even a black show runner.....shyt I wish I had the talent to write the show
quote for truthI fukking LOVE static Shock. This is some of the best news coming out of Warner bros in awhile
They pretty much sabotage his 52 series. DC don't care about Milestone at all.I really do hope this is a success, DC has been ignoring static lately. Also there NEEDS to be a black writer on the show or even a black show runner.....shyt I wish I had the talent to write the show
Yea and the fact that it happened is criminal......there is a whole generation that watched the Static Shock cartoon growing up, the fact that DC couldn't captalize on that aspect is straight ludacrisThey pretty much sabotage his 52 series. DC don't care about Milestone at all.
Details on the project are incredibly sparse, though THR [The Hollywood Reporter] noted that the series would be based on the "Static" comic, originally written in 1993 by Dwayne McDuffie and Robert L. Washingtonwith art by John Paul Leon as part of DC's Milestone imprint.
Static Shock — Writer/producer/director Reginald Hudlin (Best Picture Oscar nominee for producing Django Unchained) leads the creative team behind a live-action adaptation of Static Shock, featuring the African-American super hero Static, aka Virgil Ovid Hawkins. Static Shock is based on the Static comic co-created by the late Dwayne McDuffiewith co-writer Robert L. Washington IIIand artist John Paul Leon, which was originally published by the DC Comics imprint Milestone Comics and, later, by DC Comics. Milestone Media co-founder/comic book artist/TV producer Denys Cowan (the originalStatic Shock animated series) is collaborating with Hudlin on the newStatic Shock.
Warner Bros. eyeing Jaden Smith for Static Shock
With Jada Pinkett Smith currently stealing scenes in Gotham and Will Smith supposedly close to signing on for the Suicide Squad movie, could Warner Bros. be looking for a Smith family hat-trick by casting their son Jaden as Static Shock? That's what Flickering Myth have heard at any rate...though do take it with a healthy pinch of that ever-ready salt. The other day it was announced that a live-action Static Shock digital series was in the works as part of an initiative dubbed "Blue Ribbon Content", with Django Unchained producer and Reginald Hudlin on board. Smith definitely has the Virgil Hawkins look down, but would he be a goof fit for the role?
