I don't wan't to wade into the rhetoric, or the intent, or short hand of slogans like DEFUND THE POLICE, but NO ONE wants to see police without decent budgets. That's what goes on in those hillbilly towns, no budget and no oversight, so they start taxing the community, with illegit fines. See Ferguson.
I think they need more oversight from Justice, investigations, consent decreees, I don't think pulling funding is actually a good option.
At the same time, we don't need over funded, or extra funding for minor offenses. We want murders to be solved, we want criminals arrested. We don't want crackdowns and 80's era mandates.
The southern border and police oversight are pretty similar. You can't defund the police, you can't open the border, but we can improve a lot on both counts.
