Now "Solo" underperformed but that was a prequel to a Legendary Character played by a Legendary Actor. It was a risk either way with an unknown actor playing Harrison's role. Plus it came out just 6 months after the Last Episode. Star Wars movies are like "Events". You can't drop them too close to each other. "Rogue One" was an anomaly because it ended up getting a lot of "A New Hope" fans because it tired directly into that film so it did over a Billion. But for the Episodes, People take YEARS analyzing the previous film. This is why Lucas formula is flawless. He only gave you a Trilogy once ever 10-15 years had you waiting for more. That drop every Year is overkill for a Franchise like Star Wars. "The Last Jedi" was polarizing because Rian did take some risk. Yes some of them did not work but the Hate was overblown. The Movie wasn't Great but people were acting like Rian killed their family or something, lol. It's not that serious. None of them are on George's level to being with, so all these are just Sequels of his original idea. I think Episode IX does "Force Awakens" numbers and better than "The Last Jedi". Especially with the whole "End of the Skywalkers" advertisement. "The Last Jedi" still did 1.3 Billion at the Box Office so the movie did well.

Infinity War was one of the biggest and most well received movies of all time, with arguably the biggest cliffhanger ever, after a series of other massive movies in one big story line. So the hype for End Game is unprecedented
Last Jedi had half the people that saw it ready to throw Star Wars in the bushes forever, including the most hardcore of the fanbase
This trailer is a good start, but they got a long way to go to get that big of an audience hyped for them again
