7 was not trash at all and had one of the best endings
8 was so bad that it made everyone hate 7. Imagine if everyone had character growth in 8, like Finn actually becoming a bad ass Jedi in his own right. The nights of Ren having a character arc, Luke and kylo really fighting, the purple hair lady and rose never existing, Poe dameron actually being the hero pilot. 8 could’ve made everyone like 7 but instead it did the opposite.

the biggest campaign i’ve seen is the nba doing star wars night. T shirts darth vader dancing and shyt like that. TLJ and Solo really killed the faith in this. I just want to see some good action scenes and get this over with

The problem, I think, is that since Disney trashed the prequels, they can’t draw on Palpatine’s GOATness, since they’d have to reference RoTS to do so. Also, this new generation of kids don’t know or care who Palpatine is. What’s the selling point of this film? The rebellion? Why is the First Order even bothering with the rebels of which there are like 12 remaining? In a galaxy of trillions? It can’t be Rey vs. Kylo since she washed him twice. There’s no material for the promo, basically.
espidoe 8 was horrible and failed to make Poe dameron and Finn cool, they made them corny afterthoughts. nobody cares about any of these characters. Kylo and phasma both had dope ass costume designs but both characters were losers with no cool attributes. This whole trilogy is a mess and bringing back Lando and Palpatine won’t fix that. All these beautiful visuals just wasted.

If they hadn’t gone out of their way to make the prequels basically Legends status in the canon, they could have used Palpatine more heavily in the promo. I can’t think of why anyone born after 2000 would even care that the Emperor is alive. And how would they even know?! Only old heads recognize the throne room from the trailers or Palpatine’s laugh. They haven’t even explicitly shown him in any promos. What does Gen Z make of all this?

I think these series is suffering from a certain modern writing philosophy that a character not knowing who they are is deep and resounding.
When in reality it’s just not interesting and not compelling.
Instead of a character coming to a conclusion about who they are (Luke in New Hope) and having that upended in Empire.
We just spend three movies waffling on one question.
That’s why we get so many prequels movies where they try and pretend we haven’t made it to seeing the person we know in the future.
