Yeah, you'd think the galaxy far, far away would just be on some never-ending Triple H run of evil. Return of the Jedi really watered down shyt a little to conveniently for my liking. No way is partially-trained Luke taking out Vader, unless Anakin took a dive... and even less likely Vader gonna just toss the Palpatine out like he's a Bushwacker in the Royal Rumble.

But, these are supposed to be hero-oriented, and I hope the next trilogy utilizes good storytelling to push along what makes both sides formidable.

luke was stronger than vader in return of the jedi. he wasn't no partially trained jedi at that point, he was jordan entering his first finals. in fact luke probably would have beaten vader a lot sooner if he wasn't holding back. just look at how easily he bested him once he got mad.

also luke wasn't just stronger than his father, he had more wisdom than him too. watch the scene where luke hands himself over to vader on endor. luke is in complete control, as if he knows his father better than he knows himself. and in the end he was proven right.

vader said it himself, the emperor was afraid of luke because luke had the potential to take them both down.
