Probably not. At the end of the day here is NO Star Wars without George Lucas. He created it and made literally BILLIONS of dollars from it. Star Wars will forever remain synonymous with his name. No matter who directs it, produces it, or releases it. The first name you see before those credits role is LUCASARTS.

Plus he'll always remain a legend for having the foresight to keep the merchandising rights. That was genius level anticipation

Lucas is retired but he is the 2nd Largest Shareholder for Disney next to Steve Jobs. There's no way anyone would take a "Star Wars" movie seriously without "Lucas" name on it. That's why you didn't see the "Disney" logo in that teaser. You only saw "LUCASFILM". Lucas is no longer involved but don't get it twisted. It was "His" people that brought this together. And judging by the final product. The style JJ is using heavily influenced by Lucas.

Again what I say is speculation not fact. I don't have the script. I'm just going off the marketing and who was shown in the trailer. It's clear they are positioning him as the young male hero of the story. Daisy is the female. Oscar is playing a young Han Solo clearly. A cocky pilot. That's why I said he was a young Luke. Daisy looks like a Young Leia. If you look at the three of them it's like mirroring the original trilogy. But the origins of the characters is obviously way different with John being a Stormtrooper, Daisy being on some Desert Planet and Oscar being an X Wing Pilot. Do all of them have the force? Nobody knows, I'm speculating John and Daisy probably do cause they were shown so much in the trailer. But again just speculation:
