This is on Iger for Katleen Kennedy. The only real fukkup he's had during his tenure as CEO. They invested so much in SW and she fukked up the movies.
george strikes againYou know George Lucas chose Kathleen Kennedy to run Lucasfilm. Oh the irony
Reboot 7-9 in a few years using the shyt they made non canon would be my play. Sucks we lost Carrie, but by then they'd be able to CGI her to look completely real even more. Pretend these last 3 don't exist.
trends going downward, thats one of the first things companies look at. SW will always make money off of licenses/toys/etc. That was a given even before George brought her on to run shyt. They can put you in charge and do the same thing. This has not been good for the mainline films.

Star Wars in trouble though. Outside of video games which don’t have to follow the sequel characters, they can only rely for so long on the OT visuals.
This is what happened/happening to Star Trek. The last few series don’t sell merchandise but they rely on pushing Shatner and Nimoy to older audiences.
There are only so many versions of Yavin Luke you can make. They needed to be able to sell every version of Rey possible.
THIS. If fin was the main character cacs would just accept it and buy their kids action figures of fin etc cause they need a male figure no matter what color the main one is. Rey was not likable cause of how they portray her. Poe aight but he ain’t no Jedi. People buying Star Wars battlefront 2 to play as Luke, Vader and stormtroopers. None of these new characters are relateable cause they were handled poorly. Also women ain’t feeling Rey which was a main target audience
Finn leaving a growing First Order brigade would have been way more interesting. Him going to Luke and Leia for help and the audience and Finn realizing the First Order was way bigger than they realized when Ben Solo gets corrupted and destroys the Jedi Temple.
Rey could have been introduced but it wouldn't have the sequel series so indebted to handling the OT characters.
And one of the main weaknesses of this series is that the First Order makes no sense.
It was wild that one of the first marketing martial for TFA was the Knights of Ren. They had all these cool and mysterious characters that people wanted to know more about and see in action. They didn't do shyt with that in the first two movies at all. It's almost like the person creating the characters had nothing to do with the story.
I mean go back to when Star Wars started. Lucas could have started at the beginning with Anakin or stared in the Clone Wars. But he jumped all the way to the midway point with Luke and filled in the necessary backstory.
There was no need to fill comics and toy lines with products. Boba Fett was a bounty hunter. That’s it that’s all we needed to get the story.
Disney knows they have to fill all the auxiliary products with stories so the Knights of Ren or the First Order are passed off to novels and comics.

They needed a young and creative person who loves star wars to manage the franchise not some old Hollywood batshyt feminist.
