For a lot of white people being “white” means being “racist”. It is part of their identity. There is never not going to be a black character in star wars. Hoping there will never be another black star wars character is as crazy as thinking there will be a star wars release without a black character.

Right. For me "racism" is often times just preferential treatment and being partial to your own kind over others (it's not necessarily personal). But when you're on the outside of that, it comes off different.

That's not to say there aren't also flagrant vindictive overt racists as well out here, but I feel as though those types are the minority among the white populace.

I feel the racism of white people is oppressive and malevolent

Do you think it is a conscious malicious act for a white employer to give a white man a prominent open position over a black man with the same qualifications based off the fact that they're the same race and therefore he relates to him more and would prefer to empower him? Wouldn't you be inclined to do the same?

Is it a bad thing that Asian restaurants tend to have primarily Asian workers or a Caribbean one with caribbeans? Is it oppressive and malevolent or is it just looking out for your own?

That's what I'm saying.

They've kinda stitched her up acting-wise, as so far she's not doing it for me. Some of her line deliveries have been awful. And I know she's a great actress but Star Wars just seem to make good actors get wooden

:francis:

But still, fukk the racist fanboys.

She is absolutely terrible.

Sadly I have to agree:francis:. Maybe her acting gets better as the series progresses. But i thought Star War villians are supposed to be over the top characters. They just put a black woman in a costume and told her to act like every masculine black stud in a management position. Her charcter could literally be the mean female boss on any black t.v show. This squarely falls on Disneys shoulders for not giving her more.

And disney is trash, will be switching to Hulu. Weak response from star wars too imo.
