Battlefront II's Offline Co-op Is Console-Exclusive

SWBFIITroopers610.jpg

One of the features announced for Star Wars Battlefront II during its official unveiling today was offline, split-screen co-op. However, recent official details have obfuscated which platforms will receive the feature and which won't. Let's clear that up a bit.

A blog entry on the Xbox Wire previously said the feature will be exclusive to Microsoft's console. This is not the case. Game Informer was able to confirm with an EA representative that the split-screen will be available on both consoles (the Xbox Wire post was also updated to say the feature is console-exclusive). However, the feature will not be available on the PC.

Our Take
It's unfortunate the PC version won't have split-screen. Offline co-op is a great way to get casual fans to play with more hardcore players, and to it see disappear from any platform is a bummer. But I suppose it's not unheard of. EA should have instead taken cues from another Star Wars-related title, Soul Calibur IV, and given Xbox One Players Yoda, PlayStation 4 players Darth Vader Kylo Ren, and the PC version, um... a TIE Fighter running a GTX 1080Ti video card or something.

That Soul Calibur IV thing really happened though, huh?
