Oh nah keep watching it it’s well done. Yes he has some 20th century jokes in there but nothing overbearing, it’s limited to a throw away line or two. It feels like TNG+

Pike show all but confirmed at this stage.
I hope not if it was anything like that short. How big is Pike's Enterprise on this show? Between the ridiculously massive Engineering section and the inexplicable vast open plan turbo lift shafts there isn't much room for anything else.
I wonder how different Discovery would have been with Fuller. Not only are the stories rubbish but they're predictable and full of so many little annoyances and Picard face palm moments.
Really hoping Picard is much better written. 2 Animated Treks next month. Then the Picard prequel.

“Discovery” S3 To Be Lighter, Funner ‘Trek’

The second season of CBS All Access’ “Star Trek: Discovery” closed out with the crew jumping 930 years into their future, taking us well beyond the mid-2200s of the first two seasons and well past the late 2300s of the Next Generation/Picard era to the complete unknown that is 3187.
That is well beyond basically anything in previous Trek lore from Enterprise’s Temporal Cold War to the various timeships in Voyager. It’s also far enough out to allow for a complete reshaping of the galactic map with many civilisations rising and falling through that time.
Jonathan Frakes, the Trek veteran who is directing multiple episodes of the new season, says that the third season will boast a ‘big tonal shift’ and will apparently be lighter and more action oriented – moving away from its darker themes. He tells Comicbook.com:
“Michael Burnham has found a new core, not to mention a new partner in crime. So again, there’s a big tonal shift on that show, less driven by the pain and guilt of her past and more about the magical reunification of the Discovery crew and wherever she went off to. God knows where she went as the Red Angel. So those two things coming back together is very much the theme, and how grateful everyone is and what’s next. It’s got a lot of action-adventure and not so much pain.”
Said partner in crime is Cleveland ‘Book’ Booker, a classic space rogue type played by David Ajala who has joined the cast. The series was able to shoot its entire season from July 2019 through to the end of February 2020, wrapping just weeks before the coronavirus pandemic shut most productions down.
Post-production on the third season is continuing remotely and editor Scott Gamzon recently tweeted that sound, VFX and editorial are all hard at work from their homes on the new episodes. However it’s going to take a little longer due to the new arrangement.
