I think Beyonce is like 2 years older than the other girls from Destiny's Child. Like she was 18 at the beginning and the other three were 16. Look at Kelly and Latoya. They look mad young. If he really is 50, it says nothing about todays talent pool of rappers except that someone has an agenda. Someone's agenda was Shawn Carter shaving years off. Someone's agenda was putting out the type of music we see (too many stories of artists being forced to change up their style once they get 'in'). If Shawn Carter is better than guys allegedly less than half his age, there's a reason.

Dovetailing into that, Beyonce's net worth was built by her father using payola and connections to shyt on MUCH better R&B and pop singers. Destiny's Child was never the best girl group, and Beyonce was never the best singer or had the best presence among her peers. She isn't even the best today, though she does have legend status because of longevity in the game and she does work hard. If other pop and R&B singers are 'underachieving section 8', it's for the same reason pop rappers are putting out garbage which is more garbage'y than the crap Shawn Carter puts out: someone wanted it that way.

I remember when he turned 40 how people were talking about how he knocked down the age barrier in hip hop being the first 40 year old rapper to drop a #1 album, tour arenas around the world and be completely relevant, imagine if he was 50? That would be great for the genre.

My thing is, how could lying about your age still be possible in todays information era? Surely if there was any merit to it you'd have way more credible people than Star calling out his "real" age, there are plenty of records online that can be verified. Didn't Jay also go to the same school at the same time as BIG and Busta too? They were both supposedly born in 72 which is 7 years after your claim for Jay, or are they all lying about their age too?

na, no link...but in terms of your question about today's info age...i think it's just such a common thing for entertainers to lie about their age that it actually becomes them after a while & even in the industry. it's like they all see it into existence & it just sticks with them, and everybody just goes with it because so many others are lying about their age anyway.

as for Beyonce being born in 77...my wife used to work for an agency that helped people in financial need, and a former closely associated exec assistant at the 40-40 club went. So, everybody that goes has to give their story, and my wife & her were talking. she said she's seen the jay/bey marriage certificate in the office, and beyonce's birth date says 1977.

in jay's case, i'm just going by the consistency of nas saying on Ether, 'you 36 in a karate class?" back in 2001 before jay turned 37...star also mentioned jay's real age back on hot97 when he was on the morning show in those days...and cam claimed he was 42 in 2006 back on that rant about "chancletas".

These industry ages are stupid. These kids who listen to music have no idea how old these rappers are nor do they give a fukk. When you were a kid did you care how old Nas was? Or Ice Cube? Or Snoop? Not once did that ever cross my mind. Labels be thinking too deep. Just don't mention their ages if it's an issue. But lying is dumb

And for the record, as I've said before, we have family friends who've known Jay since he was a kid and worked for Roc-A-Fella records since the beginning. Jay is the age he says he is.

not sure if this is true, but I am 100% sure that there are lots of celebrities out here lying about their age. I think lil' wayne for instance shaved about 5 years off his age before and it once came out in thesmokinggun when he was arrested for something a few years back.

And Beyonce came out in 98 and it was clear those were little girls, for her to be 35 now, she woulda had to have been 19 when No No No dropped and 20/21 when bills bills bills dropped and it was clear she was of high school age back then
