I think it could be plausible that they were led to believe they were in a suit to get money from Universal and then discovered it was a suit against Nelly when it was filed and made public. Given the dispute with Nelly and Ali, I certainly don’t think it was them that brought the suit against Nelly and then they had to bring in Ali who just reluctantly went along with it, only for them to back away and leave Ali as the lone plaintiff.
