You can easily lock and unlock it and it takes effect right away.
Yeah we reaching a tipping point with this credit shyt. Mine(and especially my girls) is straight. But one fukk up when you 18 can have folks scrambling for a decade.

The credit bureaus finessing...cancel that shyt and just put a manual freeze on all your bureaus. When its time to apply for new credit/loans/insurance then unfreeze and then freeze it back again.I didn’t know you could get it for free as I’ve been paying it for years now

It's instant. I had to unfreeze recently at the car dealership. Whoever is going to run your credit can usually tell you which bureau they are running it with so you don't have to unfreeze all three.

How do you do it?
Why not just use of one the many free credit monitoring sites and just take action if something happens (an immediate dispute as soon as you get the notification)? I promise you, this is not the first time our SSN #s were stolen...
