First of all one game has been out for 7 years. The other hasn't even been out 6 months. Second you making assumptions and talking about if it sold. Well if thamount it sold on Xbox was so high why would Square Enix be so eager to give such value sales up time and time again? You clearly don't see them do that the other way.

They hoe their games out to whoever will buy them. They’ve had some recent games skip playstation and release on xbox.

Square is eager to remove risk, as long as they get an up front check and promotion the game can’t fail. What they’ve learned is the games can’t grow either. They are growing the playstation brand but not their own.

Why do you think they are now changing that strategy if releasing games on xbox isn’t worth it??

Basically that if Microsoft get a marketing deal that it is still very likely (and true) that it will still mostly direct sales to Playstation. Its implied the games audience is on one platform (playstation), and he’s suggesting square enix foot Microsoft with the bill like Sega is doing.

All those big marketing deals Microsoft is getting for Sega games isn’t increasing sales on playstation, its just running microsofts pockets, which is what he’s suggesting square enix do. The games still sell like shyt on xbox

They looked at the benefits of putting some of those games on Xbox and came to the decision that taking whatever money Sony offers is a better deal for them than putting it on that platform.

The truth is people who value those franchises meet them where they’re available. I don’t think the typical Xbox only gamer cares about games like Final Fantasy and the only reason you care is it’s a feather in your cap for an online argument.

In the real world there aren’t these huge swaths of gamers who refuse to play games not on a certain platform. Real people do the math of what games are on what platforms and purchase platforms that have access to games they want.

There’s no reason for Square to not be on board and start releasing their games day and date on steam. They can still get the money for console exclusives. But atleast they still have the wild card money from PC sales to fall back on if they do. It’s too much money sitting there for them not to take it into consideration. Eventually Sony will jump on board. If Spider-man 2 would have dropped on PC day and date especially with the marketing they have now it would definitely sell double of what it’s going to sell on PS5. Either that or release windows need to be a lot shorter. They’ve introduced an audience that’s willing to wait for a PC release since they are now releasing first party games on the platform.

Even a pixel remaster would sell gangbuster, its a shame SE seems to have only used that format on FF, would love to see them use it on the rest of the Snes classics.
