Oklahoma treats Indigenous Peoples like a marketing ploy. I have concerns this is more of the same. For those that don’t know, there is not a Native American culture. There are incredibly diverse Nations from disparate places all forced to Oklahoma. There are the Muscogee Creek and Comanche and Cherokee and 36 other federally recognized nations forced to Oklahoma. To the those requesting buffalos on the jerseys, this isn’t a Cowboy & Indian movie. Buffalos were central to some nations and not others. If this is really a jersey to honor Indigenous Peoples and not our stereotypes from Westerns then you have to ask, who does this jersey represent? Which nations? I just hope Indigenous Peoples were involved and these unis represent their vision(s). But I’ll believe it when I see it.

I've suggested on podcasts that the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame should construct a wing devoted to NBA absurdities. The NBA is the most absurd major U.S. sports league, churning out a never-ending stream of on-court bloopers, social media gaffes and melodrama. The day-to-day silliness deserves its place in Springfield, Massachusetts.

That will never happen, so we're going to start building our imaginary Absurdity Wing here.
