This is misleading. It’s the same money just that OKC can give him the 5th year but PG is young enough and can get another contract with the Lakers if he takes care of business as far as stayin healthy and takin care of his body

If they picked up his team option then he'd be an UFA next summer, since they declined the option he'll be a RFA this summer and they can ensure they lock him up.

The market this summer helps denver only the lakers have a max slot, next summer more teams will be able to offer him a max and the nuggets wouldn't be able to match like they can this summer.
