Multiple characters in the story have prophetic dreams about the Red Wedding. Theon, The Ghost Of High Heart, Patchface, etc. But the prophetic dreams are too weird and hard to interpret for the person who’s having those dreans. I could only imagine what it would’ve been like as a book reader back in 2000 when A Storm Of Swords dropped and you’re reading about the Red Wedding in real time, and then you go back and realize :ohhh: all those dreams that such n such character had, was about the Red Wedding!!!!

Theon: Theon has a dream about a feast with all the dead ppl. Ned Stark is there with no head. Lyanna Stark is there wearing a blood soaked dress. King Robert is there with his guts spilling over the table. And then the door flies open, and a man with a wolfs head walks in with blood all over his clothes. If you remember, after the red wedding the Frey’s cut robs head off and sew his direwolfs head to Robs body.

The Ghost Of High Heart: When Arya is traveling with the Brotherhood Without Banners they meet this prophecy telling Woods Witch called “The Ghost Of High Heart”(not an actual ghost, but she’s a witch). And she tells them of a prophetic vision she has of a howling wolf crying in the rain, and no one is there the help him. And before that, she talks about a vision she had of a ladies body in the river floating down stream, and this lady is dead as hell. But then her eyes open and it’s the scariest vision The Ghost Of HighHeart has ever seen. The ghost of high hearts first vision describes Rob at the Red Wedding, or Robs Direwolf being killed at the Red Wedding. And her 2nd vision describes Catelyn Starks dead body being dragged from the river and Catelyn being raised from the dead by Lord Beric Dondarion, and Catelyn thus becoming the undead Lady Stoneheart, beginning her arc as a vengeful undead merciless woman who roams the riverlands getting vengeance on the Lannister’s and Frey’s. What’s a trip is, Arya unknowingly drags her mom’s body from the river when she’s warging(skinchanging like Bran) as a wolf. Arya just thinks she’s having a dream.

Patchface: Patchface speaks in meaningless rhymes and riddles, but some of his riddles are prophetic visions. Patchface in the 2nd Book(A Clash Of Kings) sings: Fools Blood, Kings Blood, Blood on The Maidens Thigh, but chains for the guest and chains for the bridegroom Aye, Aye, Aye!!

The Fools blood is that of Aegon Freys(the fool of House Frey who Catelyn kills after they’ve killed rob. The kings bloods is obviously Robs blood. The blood on the maidens thigh is from Roselyn Fray losing her virginity to Edmure Tully at their wedding. And the chains for the guest and bridegroom represent the chains of all those the Northmen and Tully loyalist taken hostage, including Edmure.

So if you’re reading the book in real time back in like 2000, I bet folks were like

:damn: How could I have missed that!!! That’s what that vision meant!!! :damn:

:wow:

Yeah that's ill, on a re-read you can see the betrayal coming miles away. Shyt Roose Bolton announces like twice that he switched sides.

I experienced the Red Wedding live (yeah yeah :flabbynsick: ) and I had to read that chapter like 3 times to make sure I read what the fukk I just read. Same with Tyrion finding Shae in Tywin's bed and then merking his pops.

Amazing series, too bad it's RIP :mjcry:

Must’ve been extremely jarring reading it in real time.

I have a ton of stuff to read as it is, but would you brehs recommend reading the books to someone who has already seen the series? I guess as all adaptations they left tons of stuff out, just as this thread is about.

The books are 5X deeper than the series if that means anything to you. Deeper characterization, deeper lore, everything is just much richer.

I’m not shytting on the show. The first 6 seasons are classic television, but reading the books is like night & day

See, what we're not gonna do is get me passionate about Game of Thrones, again:ufdup:
That fat motherfukker ain't finishing this series and I just came to grips with that. Don't be out here making compelling threads that make me want to read the books again. I'm not negging you this time, but I swear to the Old Gods and the New....I just want Winds of Winter, brehs:mjcry::mjcry:

You forgot Dany's vision of it, from the second book. During the House Of The Undying.

"Farther on she came upon a feast of corpses. Savagely slaughtered, the feasters lay strewn across overturned chairs and hacked trestle tables, asprawl in pools of congealing blood. Some had lost limbs, even heads. Savaged limbs clutched bloody cups, wooden spoons, roast fowl, heels of bread. On a throne above them sat a dead man with the head of a wolf. He wore an iron crown and held a leg of lamb in one hand as a king might hold a sceptre, and his eyes followed Dany with mute appeal."

Good looking out, yeah I'm not gonna lie that kind of books aren't the ones I usually read (just by habit, nothing against them) but I loved the series and wouldn't mind getting back in such universes with even more lore.

You might like The First Law series by Joe Abercrombie. I would suggest the Malazan series, but it's extremely dense and complicated
