How exactly did you injure yourself bruh

I stopped doing dips completely
my posture has gotten worse over the years from sitting at a desk for 50+ hours a weeks. that created an impingement in my shoulder/rot cuff joint which caused a lot of the other damage when i was doing press movement. couple that w the fact that i kept trying to push for heavier weight it was a recipe for disaster. i'm pretty sure the tearing and fraying of the tissue, the bone spur, and the bursitis were part of that irritation.

:whoo:

Were you pressing more than you were pulling breh... sounds like you were press-biased.

i mean at my peak my #s were like 405x2 DL, 315x2 BP, 165x1 MP, 315x2 BS, 225x5 pendlays, i don't think i was ever neglecting backwork, i was still banging out weighted pullups all the time. i just always found benching easier to make progress than back work though, could be part of the issue. but even my ortho surg could tell my posture is fkd. probably a combo deal.

I wouldnt say you were neglecting it, but it does seem like you put it on the back burner a little bit. I've always tried to do at least 1 set of rows for every set of bench... right now I'm doing 2. And I always try and keep my back as strong or stronger than my chest. My dead stop row game is a good ~50lb better than my bench game easy. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone w/a rotator cuff injury that had a super strong back. I mean I dislocated my shoulder a few years ago and it doesn't give me any problems. Not trying to rub salt in the wound but just trying to give you some ideas for when you come back. You can never have too strong a back.

those were max #s just to give you an idea of the weight, not the only lifts i was doing. when i look at my old PHAT workouts i hit up equally big back workouts and chest workouts. but i appreciate the input on the workouts and it's something i will def consider when i'm back to iron. this PT facility i'm going to is going to very sports focused and i'm going to explain to them exactly what i'm looking for so hopefully that rehab will help my posture and balance as well.

pt went well yesterday. they say i already have more mobility than most people who have had my surgery. started w some basic movements and stretching just to loosen up. tmrw is 3 weeks out already and i go back for second day. most of my work/damage was bone and tearing was more minimal (which usually takes longer to heal) so my total recovery time won't be as bad. they say i can start some leg work soon and run as it's comfortable. it's really about me knowing when to push and when to let off it now at this point. but i'm happy man, i assumed the absolute worst so this is a pleasant surprise,
