Ok, and I agree civil rights are civil rights. (through Christian organizations, lol) I care about and actually support with my lil bit of cash people and causes in other nations.

I guess we can disagree if gays are fighting for civil rights. Blacks weren't afforded basic human rights. That's what blacks fought for. It was called civil rights because the government actually sanctioned most of the discrimination. Gays didn't have to fight for any of those rights.. they were born with those. They want to freely express a lifestyle, and change the traditions and ideas of a people, and that's not a basic right. Regardless, I'm not against them having basic rights. I actually never said anything against that, and even said 'whatever' about the marriage thing... I just don't understand campaigning if you're not gay - I mean what's your motivation if gays aren't being oppressed?

I mean... they are being oppressed. It's a relatively recent occurrence that sodomy laws are rescinded .. that someone isn't fired from a job or kicked out the military if it's found that they like the same sex .... that groups of people won't assault a person they suspect to be gay. Of course this type of oppression wasn't anywhere near the amount that blacks faced/still face today! But there's still cultural and institutionalized fear and hatred of these people based on ... what exactly? To deny that this oppression doesn't exist, or even that it's not oppression is just ignorant.

Maybe we have different ideas of what natural or basic rights are, fine. I'm of the opinion that if we're going to have different rights for certain groups, then there needs to be a much better reason for that other than "tradition" or "religious scripture". Those are very weak arguments ... and I think you realize that since now you are more "whatever" on the issues of gay marriage.

I live next door to 3 gay guys. I just don't see how they are oppressed. Because of the area I live in, the police that drive through look at me funny not them. They throw parties, I even went to a bbq.. sh1ts normal over there - how r they oppressed? And y is it that when I tell a real life fakkit my pov, they are less upset than an internet person who claims to be str8?

You don't live their lives, so you don't really know their experience. Neither do I, but for you to imply that they're never victims of any kind of prejudice or discrimination reminds me of white people saying blacks aren't victims of real racism because they've never seen it happen. Even if some of those posters don't really like me, or weirdly obsessively hate like @vvd does... I really don't have a problem with anyone, as there will always be different opinions.

First off, by saying anymore, you're admitting to the trend. Second, there may not be so many pro gay threads, but there are always a few .... and those same people fill the entire first page up on some days with anti theist threads - so many that HL should be called AL, and any opposing viewpoints really aren't welcome.

If you can't support your arguments expect to shouted down, especially when there are studies that prove you are wrong. It went so far last night people were actively trying to rationalize, and support, pedophilia, and beastiality.

America needs to move past this issue. It's distracting us from a lot of serious social ills our country has that need to be dealt with. This whole thing is about money, and insurance at the end of the day. Homosexuality is legal, I would imagine it has been for awhile it's time to move on. People don't even know why they're opposed to it.


Just to reiterate my stance, think about how you would feel if the same laws or standards were applied to you. Imagine if you weren't allowed to get Married(get married brehs)?

Reading the op's struggle paragraphs whenever he shows up in a thread is not an enjoyable experience. It's just sad. You can tell he's trying his hardest to think and reason through issues, but he can't because he's just too dumb and shackled by fear and bigotry. His nickname should be Struggle Thoughts.

He'll say some shyt like "I believe in microevolution but not macroevolution." Then you outline and detail for him why that's fukking stupid and makes no sense at all because both terms refer to the exact same process and are only indicative of scale, and were coined by people who understand evolution and know its existence is not debatable. Then he counters with some bullshyt about how evolution is "just a theory" even though the difference between the definition of theory as it pertains to the scientific method and the common language definition has been explained to him like 47754474565 times by posters, not to mention he should've learned that by middle school. Then he says the same dumb shyt a month later and repeats this fruitless process all over again.

I don't think lesbian gay couple pose an increased risk to adopted children. I think most people would agree that two men, statistically pose a greater risk. - that's the obvious truth.

I have always assumed civil unions gave people those rights. When I found out they didn't, I guessed there would be a fight for equal rights - which I wouldn't be against at all. To push past that and go str8 for marriage is a push for validation of certain behaviors and a push to be considered normal.
