its 4 mics, if you replace 8 Iz Enuff with Devils Son and add Should Have Used A Rubber its 4.5

you can tell alot of it was recorded in 93/early 94, it sounded a little older than its release date. not a bad thing, the music was good and has held up. the bars hold up, 90% of L's material still plays pretty well today imo
8 iz enuff? I love that record!

I'm not saying it has to be, but like... What's the theme, sound or idea behind Lifestylez that makes it stand out?

:yeshrug:
It definitely has that DITC sound, but that doesn't make it stand out. It's a very dark record, which I guess was remnants of the horrorcore steel he was running with. Even the obvious nods to radio were done in a tasteful uncompromising way.

To me, the album is just well executed rhymes over great beats.

I just saw a 20th anniversary box set edition of this album. When I was into Big L you couldn't even find his album in a store

Did the album go out of print at some point? I copped the tape sometime in 97. Then on CD at some point well after that. Then vinyl maybe 5-6 years ago.

One of the few albums I can listen to without skipping. Flows very well.

I fully agree. It stands up well to other albums of the time imo. Like I'll skip more tracks on uptown Saturday night than on lifestyles, but that's just me . I also wouldn't give a bytch 10 cents to put cheese on a whopper, but again just me

Pretty good, but not a classic. Hard to really call why certain songs stayed, and other songs got left off.

Any re-release should include all four of these cuts

Devil Son
Times Is Hard
Shoulda Used a Rubber
School Days (Maybe the bassline would need to be changed though)
