Spin: Does anyone think they turned out better because pops wasn't around?

Most of the cats I know who had their dads around, have turned into another version of them. Which is fine I guess but I think it might've limited alot of these dudes.

I know my dad works a blue collar job and lives in a small town and I'm told he seems to like his life, which is cool but that's hell to me. I at the thought, that if this dude would've been in my life, I might think just like him. I'm adventurous, enterprising and artistically inclined and most of the traits I have were developed consciously because I wanted to outshine my mediocre family. Had my father been around I might've been taken over by love for him and conformed to his was of thinking. Instead I'm out living that cali life, by this time next year I'll no longer be a wage slave, shortly after, I'll be on my jet setting shyt and I'll be living over seas in 2014. Unheard of for a country nikka and I have my fathers absence to thank.

Anyone else think their fathers absence helped them out in the long run?

Probably overall sure.. Pops was out there wylin and I probably would have followed suit like my brothers did... But I lacked a lot of self confidence when I was younger that I'm guessing a father would give..

It depends on your father. If pops is an abusive, violent drunk then of course. But otherwise I can't see how growing up without a father can be advantageous.

I just think if the dad is around and he's not ambitious, he'll pass that acceptance of mediocrity on to his kids, which is a big disadvantage in my book.

Robbin nikkas... Broke into a popeyes after hours.. Lil dealing here and there I think.. He was locked up when I was born and shot and paralyzed after he got out when I was like 3.. Had his legs amputated when I was 10 and died when I was 18.. From what my sister told me I actually wasn't missing much..

He might not have been a bad dude, don't buy into the bull that america puts out there, he could've been a freedom fighter battling against wage slavery. But chances are you came out better without him, count it as a win.

My father has tried to come back into my life several times but I always shut it down. Are you and your father in the same line of work?

No. I'm definitely a lot worse off than I'd be had he been around. I think if I had actually grown up with him, I still would have graduated from an Ivy, pulling 6 figures, but I'd also be a lot saner and would have enough game to not resort to escorts.

I didn't grow up with either one of my parents. Well, my mom came into my life when I was 16.

I think overall I ended up better with out them because they couldn't raise me properly if they tried, but I know for sure I didn't develop certain coping mechanisms to life that you're supposed to develop as kid because of their missing presence.

The people who raised me did the best that they could, but you are affected by not having one or both of your parents around.
