I see the argument that Into works better on its own, and that theres hardly anything in here on par with the Leap of Faith scene.
On the other hand I see how the first appears mad restrained in comparison to this and risks taken here are bold and enthralling.
I'll still say the first for now cos we see how influential its been and the cliffhanger is abrupt enough that Beyond feels needed, in comparison to like Dark Knight, Infinity War, Empire Strikes Back. We'll see how Beyond fares
Also damn not even a week yet
After rewatching the first Im rethinking this
First one is still good but probably enough of an origin story for me to see the limits, I had similar feelings after rewatching the first Guardians.
The animation is still good in the first but you see how they wanted to leave it in the dust with what they do in the second.
Second Peter B as washed and a mentor is well done and has the primary relationship in 1 with Miles but I was honestly preferring seeing Miles' relationships with his parents and Gwen in 2, even if Jeff takes a step back here. More interesting exploration. Though I was honestly surprised how much I was enjoying Miles' regular life pre spider bite with 1.
Also I may be wrong on this but even with what's done in 2, I think the metaness is more present in 1, or at least more mocked. Like I feel with 2 they lean into it as worldbuilding, I can't recall anything close to a critique like a goober in there.
1 remains the complete thing though, I can't argue against that
They're not going to have the Black spiderman end up with a cacette.
That's why they're pushing Gwen being a transformer. To stop any talk of it.
And he's not going to be allowed to have a black gf. Because that would make the film too black
So he's going to be an asexual nerd. So the cac nerds don't get offended.
Yeah thats not gonna happen, they pushed it hard enough in this one for them to get together in the third, its pretty obvious
