What about the recarving? You think thats the 1st head or a do over?

If so who remixed it then when and for what reason?

pharaohs and various kings of the levant/babylon/assyria wanted to insinuate that they were all knowing, all powerful, and god incarnate on earth

so they started putting their heads on the animals and implied that they could see from out of your eyes let alone the animals eyes

The Wrong Side of the Tracks
I thought the water in this theory was from flooding and not rain?
going back to the 90s, i had heard it was rain from a time when north africa was tropical.
Even though the Plateau receives very little rainfall, it DOES rain. Because the plateau has no vegetation and is a rocky slope, the runoff from occasional rainfall causes the erosion along the walls of the enclosure. The erosion patterns on the body of the Sphinx are not a factor since it was rough-cut and covered with masonry initially. That masonry, just like the masonry that once covered the pyramids, was looted/repurposed, leaving those structures in the condition they are, today.
