I posted on tRCMB (Biggest MSU message board) that OSU wins this game like 35-24 or something like that. Our secondary has given up the most 20+ yards pass plays in the B1G, running game has been stagnant since mid-October (Michigan absolutely stopped our backs all game) and we've had horrible special teams all year + injuries.

Last week LJ Scott had 2 carries, with 2 fumbles. I would love to see him get 12-15 carries against OSU bc he's played well in big games and he's from Ohio. I'm not a big fan of how we've rotated RBs as of late not allowing one single back to get into the flow.

Now, Cook is gonna Cook....one of the best pocket passers in the country and the kid is a gamer. If he can avoid throwing a pick we will have a good chance to stay in the game. He's thrown for over 300 yards against OSU in the past. D-Line has been great and if we can get pressure with less blitzing we can allow the secondary a little breathing room bc they're young and giving up huge plays downfield.

Also, I was reading OSU has been called for only TWO offensive holding calls since 2013. If we have to play against the zebras and a top 3 team it's going to be rough.

The # 1 reason I'm not confident is because OSU beat a better MSU team last year IN East Lansing last year so I just don't see how we go on the road and take care of essentially the same OSU team with less talent in the secondary than last year.

To win this game, MSU needs to force an early TO to rattle the QB and NOT give up the home run plays that plagued us last year. Big plays will happen but allowing a 35 yard play and living to fight another down is better than just allowing that 35 yard pass to turn into a 65 Yard TD. MSU defense needs to force some 3 and outs and we cannot allow OSU to return punts for 15-20 yards and start on their own 45.

With all of this said I hope I'm wrong but I hold myself as a pretty objective Michigan State fan...I had a good feeling about beating OSU in 2013 but I knew we'd lose last year. I knew we'd beat Stanford in the Rose Bowl and Baylor in the cotton bowl but I knew we'd lose to Duke in the FF.

I think you guys feeling the effect of Narduzzi moving on the same way we are feeling the effect of Herman leaving.

I've seen multiple people try to suggest this, but it's simply not true. The secondary being banged up is why the defense has taken a dive. The same exact scheme is being run, the same plays, it's just the players aren't out there that we expected to be executing the plan. Other than the offensive line, which non-ironically is the other unit in which we've seen the most unrest this year, the defensive backfield is the one unit in football that needs the most continuity to consistently perform at a high level. We simply haven't had that this year, unlike in years past.

Aren't we starting/rotating-in something like 3 true freshmen in the secondary? Nicholson is a true soph as well. We're missing Drummund & Waynes something fierce rn...Nicholson will come into his own, great athlete, great speed/height/measurables but as many times as he's led the team in tackles for a game or had like 9 tackles in a game, he's NOT a good tackler, he tackles high and bounces off the player or simply avoids contact. He had a pick last week against UMD and I'm hoping that got his confidence back b/c we'll need him to make plays tomorrow.

Yep. We started two true freshman, Miller and Willis(?), at the safety spots against the yellow and blue and the game after that. And true freshman Tyson Smith has been getting significant snaps at corner for a few weeks now. If you remember, he gave up that long pass against Nebraska that got them down to the 1 (I know, there's been a lot of those, but I specifically remember that because the announcers said he was on the field right before the ball was snapped). Darian Hicks just came back from his concussion last week. This after missing fall camp and the first month of the season with mono. The secondary is/has been a mess. But I digress. After Nebraska, I just stopped thinking it was gonna get better back there. It is what it is at this point. :manny:

A lot of people want to say Narduzzi leaving is what has the d looking terrible but it's much more the the result of exactly what you stated, youth and inexperience in that secondary. Lost 2 first rd pick corners in consecutive years, then lose what looks like your best cover corner this year for the season in the first 3 games. Been a struggle to stop folks pretty much every game.

Ohio State's pass D isn't that good either. If Cooks healthy, I can see him picking apart the secondary especially with the receivers he has at his disposal. I still think tOSU wins, but it'll be close. fukk Dantonio tho :youngsabo:

Ok...so I'm watching college game day and they're doing their cover story on Ezekiel Elliot and they're showing his highlights...I'm like, "ok cool, cool"...they show zeke bustin off yards on Wisconsin ...BUT THEN NEXT ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY SHOW ZEKE SMASHING OREGON...THEY COMPLETELY SKIPPED ANY HIGHLIGHTS OF ZEKE SMASHING ALABAMA...WHAT THE FUKK...they didn't show Alabama AT ALL...

ESPN is SEC biased...which is a CLEAR NO NO for them to have a bias for any conference. I don't get why more people don't take issue with this type of shyt. So they'll show Wisconsin and Oregon gettin dogged but save the embarrassment for ALABAMA.

I'm telling y'all ...fukk ESPN
