Been so long since I've played.

Back in my days we used to play: big joker, little joker, 2 of hearts, 2 of clubs, 2 of diamonds, 2 of spades, ace-3 of spades, remove two of the remaining 3s for the jokers, ace high on the other suits of course.

While we at it when I play uno we play colors, numbers, and symbols.

Count up and Down with numbers.

You need to stop. Same numbers only. If a red two is down, only another red card, Wild, draw 4 or two of another color can be laid down.

My mom knows how to play and plays sometimes with folks on her dad’s side of the family.

Nah not the way we play you can count up or down regardless of the color. If that red two is down and I got a 3 4 5 of other colors in the deck that's playable.
