Nah, these fukks have been almost completely silent. They were shipping out all large orders first, with one week ordera still on hold

No updates for a month, then they come back later with some lame excuse about halting shipments due to complaints of gas and headaches due to lower than normal sodium.

It was a bullshyt excuse, they are just trying to buy more time.

I would cancel my order if I hadnt already paid, but Im not gonna seek a refund, I still wanna try it. Not expecting it for a few more months though

Got my shipping notification finally

12 months after ordering :upsetfavre:

The good news is I have been on high-proportion of liquids for my diet recently, so the transition away from solid food for a week shouldn't be too hard. Been doing a lot of milk and protein shakes, sometimes with sugar dumped in it (lack of appetite).

Will make daily reports when it arrives

Unboxing. Starting Day 1 tomorrow.

lUIeyZYh.jpg

A couple of notes:

1) I am adding 3 scoops of protein powder to each daily batch. The formula itself has 2000 calories and 120g of protein from rice protein only. As a highly active individual these are too low for me to experiment with. 120g rice protein has an amino acid profile similar to 60g Whey for the less prominent amino acids. Although it may be Ok, Im not risking muscle loss for the sake of an experiment. Just gonna add the protein which will put the calories closer to 2400

2) It has been documented that the sodium levels are too low and will be reformulated higher in the future. I am adding extra sodium because I need the water retention for my activity level. Some people are getting headaches because of the low sodium

3) Will be chewing gum often to give my jaw a workout

First impressions:

---Tastes like a poorly mixed vanilla cake batter without any sugar. Actually, I don't mind it. Tastes like a science experiment....thats fine, there is almost zero sugar in it and minimal sucralose so anything better than "horrible" is acceptable.

--Texture is bad. Chalky and gritty. Part of that may be the extra protein powder I added, it may not be mixing well. Just like above, feels like a science experiment

--I will be breaking my intake today into 5 ~12oz servings spaced 3 hours apart. Users are experiencing monumentally rotten farts. The same type of farts that I get when I drink a 950 calorie oat/milk/PB/whey/honey blended shake. I'm hoping that breaking it down into 450 calorie servings will help my body fully digest and avoid dropping nuclear bombs all day.

--Decided to go with 2 scoops protein added, then will get my extra sodium from an ounce of beef jerky.

Day 1 almost in the books, finishing my last few ounces

--Grew to somewhat enjoy the flavor over the course of the day. Not that it started to taste good or anything, but an indescribable feeling crept in. Maybe I just felt hip and it made me want more:skip:

--Cravings for solid food were non-existent. Lets not forget I'm currently taking the EC stack which helps suppress hunger though. I did get hunger every 3 hours or so, but another 12 ounces of Soylent stopped the hunger in its tracks. I'm about to snack on some sesame sticks which I decided would be my extra sodium source, but I'm not doing it out of a craving. Just for health reasons.

--Didn't get any headaches. It was pretty much pinpointed that the sodium was the culprit from peoples headaches, and I wouldn't get that after 1 day anyway. Not going to be a problem for me.

--Did not get any gas. This surprised me since so many people are reporting nuclear asses, but I suspect that many of them probably aren't used to a high fiber/high protein diet. I am used to it. That being said, I did feel a bit of gastrointestinal discomfort at about 6:00 PM and I still feel a bit now. So maybe the gas will arrive tomorrow :lupe:

--Gave samples to 2 people that I work with, both were very interested in it and one of them is already talking about ordering a month's supply

--Energy levels weren't as high as normal at work. This might be attributed to the weather turning from sunny and warm to cold and rainy today. I never crapped out completely, but was feeling pretty lethargic. Withholding judgement on whether Soylent is to blame.

Throughout the day I was thinking that I probably won't be able to do this for 7 days. Not because of any physical issues, but just out of food boredom. All my coworkers were eating frozen pizza and chips and dip and shyt and some lady baked lemon poppyseed cake:why:. I didn't eat anything but Soylent though :youngsabo:

Based off of a small 1 day sample, I really feel I could drink this every single day. 2 meals Soylent, 2 meals solid food. I may consider it depending on how the rest of my supply makes me feel. So damn convenient:noah:

Day 2 done, already hit a snag

The known sodium issue caught up with me already today

RDI for sodium is 1500-2300mg. Soylent has 1000mg. They recommend adding enough to get up to 1500. I ate sesame sticks to bring my levels up to around 1500-1700. That wasn't enough apparently.

Had a workout this morning that went fine. Drank a shyt ton of water and had reasonable energy levels considering I've been dieting for nearly a month now. But about 2 hours after my workout, I started to feel woozy. A bit light headed, a bit nauseous.

Went to a movie, so I decided to break my solid food blockade and ordered some popcorn and chowed that shyt down. Felt better shortly after.

High activity levels require higher than the minimum RDI for sodium, that much is clear. Beef jerky is probably the best solution due to its low calories, high sodium, high protein, but its also mad expensive. Combining it with expensive Soylent doesn't seem like a winning proposition.

Of course, this only applies for a "Soylent Only" diet which isn't realistic anyway. I experimented with it, and my experiment failed.

I will come up with a plan for modification. Not sure if I'm gonna finish off my batch doing a more realistic diet (2 meals Soylent, 2 meals solid foods), or whether I will just do every-other-day Soylent/Sold Food. Or alternatively, just buy some beef jerky and eat a couple ounces per day as my only solid food intake.

Side note: Did get some gas today, but it wasn't terrible smelling and wasn't worse than a normal bout with gas. So I'm still in the clear on that front.

Day 3 done

I still had half my Soylent left from yesterday since I switched to movie theater popcorn in the afternoon. So I just did another half-day today.

Had Soylent breakfast and lunch. Felt real good all day, played disc golf and was sharp and had good energy until 4 pm. Went for beers and pizza afterwards. No side effects at all today.

Gonna do another full-Soylent day tomorrow.

Probably am only gonna report on any changes from here on out rather than day-to-day updates. I think my overall recommendation is that this stuff is great, but only if used for half your daily meals rather than a full day.

Yea I would fukk with this for a meal replacement rather than everything all day. Last night I was ~300kcal short of my daily requirements... a little Soylent shake would have been the business

I need a little sucralose though. I tried to make my own Soylent once :scust: Might have used the wrong protein but :whoa: never again

I was thinking of ordering it a few weeks ago as a staple in my cutting and calorie restriction plan. However the stuff isn't cheap. I need more reviews on Soylent and delivery must pick up. I planned on ordering a weekly starter batch a month ago but the backorder backlog discouraged me. Apparently people are experimenting with creating their own Soylent. I might consider buying raw ingredients instead and making my own.

@Adam3000

You didn't clarify as to why a Soylent only diet is unrealistic. Why?

I was thinking of finding a popular recipe and making bootleg Soylent. What are some the problems you came across
I used NOW Whey Isolate. That is just a terrible protein and was a big source of the problems.

Even w/o that though, I can only do 1 shake a day. Shakes for every meal gets tricky... u need to have like 6 shaker bottles and u have to clean them every day, and eventually u get sick of the taste. I still do 100g of protein from whey daily... some from straight whey shakes, some from fruit/veggie smoothies, but I take a few hours a week and just cook in bulk. @Adam3000

You didn't clarify as to why a Soylent only diet is unrealistic. Why?

1) too low in sodium, as an active person i already felt drained and dehydrated late in day 2

2) crappy protein source. Fine for a sedentary person, but poor amino acid profile for active people trying to build muscle.

Both of these issues can be corrected with minor supplementation, but the true problem as to why its not 'realistic' is mental.

Point blank....its boring as fukk to drink it. No pleasure at all. Food is one of the greatest sources of pleasure in life, there is no reason to eliminate it completely. I swore I was gonna go a full week of Soylent only and I didnt even last 3 days.

It actually made me wanna binge eat to be honest. After a breakfast/lunch of Soylent I was ready to order a pizza and scarf that shyt down.

Its depriving you of one of lifes simplest pleasures

2 Soylent meals, 2 solid meals.....that is the formula that I think can be successful
