In the govts defence, their actions were treason. If you country is in it's infancy and trying desperately to gain global recognition; you must admit that you are undermining the stability of the state by propagating images of a weak leader soiling himself.
Public has a right to know if their leaders are incompetent/incontinent

Not like they had decades of war with the Arabs and broke off forming the world's newest country.
