Aren't we constantly told that climate change is some massive deal and that we have 'too many people on Earth'? If that's the case then what is this huge concern for lowering populations?

It's a two fold issue.

Overpopulation yet society still needs bodies to keep the machine going.

One doesn't negate the other.

In the long term lowering populations means our present economic system will at some point no longer be sustainable. That's why people like Musk are freaking out about it. And its a major reason why there's such a huge push for humanoid robots to replace human labor.

Climate change is a problem and one of the main reasons why is due to our energy use. Collective human activity is pumping out more heat than the planet can sustain. This is also unsustainable long term.

If you ask me I think low birth rates are a good thing. Its better for the planet and its driving incentives to replace human labor. I'm hoping for a future in which the human population is in decline but we've replaced most human labor with A.I./robotics and due to advancements in tech and political pressure we've found a way to change our current for profit system into something sustainable and healthier.

Without the demand of the entire globe, their fortunes and thus power crumbles.

When it's just Peter Thiel, Jeff Bezos, and Elon on the ark headed to Mars, they won't have anyone to rule over.

The elite need the mass to be elite.

I dont think this is deeper than the normal progression of freedom. When people no longer adhere to the traditional pressure to marry and have children, they do what's best for themselves (whatever-that-is in their own opinion).
I feel like we will see more of this in America.

The truth of the matter is, within this freedom if you're not making it attractive to give birth, then they will do what they think is best. And if they are following statistics or basing their choices on the available support for mothers, mentally, physically and financially they probably will choose not to give birth.

The avg women from 22 - 32 isn't begging anyone for a baby. They want access to better lives for themselves. And society has done a good job at making them understand children will deter them from that.

Overpopulation is just codeword for too many Black people.

They scream about it while crying that whites and Asians aren't making more people.

Population going up is only a problem and causing global warming when its people who are considered the enemy by white supremacists and the west....ie. africans, arabs/muslims, chinese, russian....

South korea is a proxy for the usa vs north korea/china so cacs freaking out about their birth rates.
