Well it doesn't help that blacks are often their own worst enemy putting out buffoon imagery and calling it 'entertainment' (rappers are bad at this) and also stats that don't go in our favor.
They can't realistically say all this stuff about black folks unless it has atleast some basis in fact.
The problem is the reporting is lopsided and super-negative. Rarely do they show a balanced perspective. They show us in poverty, as criminals, uneducated buffoons etc.
Does for example, the media report there are over 65,000 black lawyers in America and rising?

I think some people are missing the point.
The OP is talking about what's chosen to be the focal point of Black folks as a presentation to the masses. If an aliens watched TV, they would come to the same conclusion.
If the focus was instead on the rich culture value of Africa or the inventions by Blacks, people would be looking at things differently.
At the end of the day, your principles and memories all come from your experiences. We're the observer. It's really that simple.
