I eat soul food all time being Southern born and raised. My blood pressure is fine. My health is impeccable except for an eye condition. I run 6 miles easily. But I dont indulge in the fried. Baked chicken smothered at times, definitely baked mac n cheese, dirty rice, gumbo, boudain, greens, cornbread, red beans and rice. No sweet tea, tho I love it, cold water is actually my goat drink.
When can a brotha get an invite to dinner :feedme:

I make soul food I love it but in moderation. Sometimes I just miss my moms cooking and start getting busy in the kitchen

This article has been done time and time again...:beli: Biased asf... like other people's cuisine doesn't have health risks... Everything in this world is a damned health risk. why are they always focused on Soul Food...:mindblown: Like black people don't eat healthy food??? No one says nothing of how italian food is fattening and they be dying from heart attacks and fat clogging their arteries and shyt like that. :heh: just ignore it... because they worried about soul food affecting our health I'm more worried about the fukking cops killing us. Trump letting white terror groups off the hook, and the EPA is denying climate change and turning a blind eye to monsanto and other polluters out there... So fukk NBC news as is until they address other REAL issues affecting the black community.

I think the study is right but here are a ton of factors that play into it and the health of black people.
While it's right in saying soul food is a cause it's also a bit dated because it did start in 93. Since then the education on diet and the access to that education has grown immensely. So back then when education the knowledge wasn't as know or well spread people relied on what they knew which was sould food.
It's also harder to change your ways the older you get, but as time has gone by blacks have started getting better. I know so many people who are my age who are vegetarians and vegans and eat a limited amount of junk food. (Except for brothas cause them nikkas aint trying to cook and quick to pull up at fast food :snoop:)
The 2nd biggest factor is lack of income. No need to expound on that.
Which leads to the 3rd biggest factor is the great amount of food deserts in black communities. There isn't easy access to food stores that sell fresh quality produce. There are corner stores.

It's more and greater factors that play into the health of black folks. Just blaming it on food is kinda lazy.

why dont these polls and opinionated critics ask monsanto what they put in their products, since y'all so concerned with the health of african americans...:mjpls:

This this this. Will these kats stop posting this propoganda shyt. We all know they don't care about black folks health.

This just sensationalism used to shyt on black folks as always. Especially when you see all these fat non black folks at the fast food restaurant and at the grocery store eating processed shyt.

Italy has one of the lowest adult obesity rates in the world; the Mediterranean diet and eating habits have always been synonymous with healthy living. Don't get it confused with American-Italian food, which like any diaspora cuisine in this country, ends up getting b*stardized.

Real shyt.

I just had this conversation a few minutes ago with my cousin. Long story short, my uncle died today... of a heart attack. My day has been fukked up and I’ve been on here throughout the day to distract myself, but out of all my Pop’s brothers, heart attacks in their 60s did them all in.

That means I have 20 something years to go if I don’t cut out the bullshyt. I’ve gotten by for so long on working out, but I’m starting to feel the effects of a poor diet. shyt’s scary. I need to change my ways.

To all my young brehs, I remember 25 like it was yesterday. Time flies my dudes. Start good habits while you’re young.

Sorry to hear about your fam. My prayers are with you and them during this time.

Minority food in the Western Hemisphere overall isn’t healthy. We ain’t eating that well in the Caribbean, Latin and South America either.

Matter of fact my dads doctor told me Caribbean men tend to have the worse case if prostate cancer that he sees.

In Africa too fam. The same way slavery affected the way you guys eat over there, colonization affected the way we eat in the motherland.

Exercise
This isn't new information

Diet>> in terms of health but regular exercise can stymie the risk of heart ailments

If you got both diet and fitness on check then you maximize your health going into old age.

That stuff needs to be eaten in moderation. We moved to Georgia 2 years ago and they got a lot of places that have soul food. I don't judge anyone's diet but do folks eat like this EVERYDAY?????
