99: Hearst- Broken ankle missed 2 seasons
00: Sanders- Retired before season started
00: Levens- Bad knee. Packers had 3 straight NFC Ship appearances & 2 straight Super Bowl appearances. Ended up 8-8 & missed playoffs. Became a back up the next season.
01: George- Statistically his best year. Playoff game, late 4th quarter; a pass to George was bobbled and than intercepted by Ray Lewis and returned for a TD.
02: Culpepper- Knee injury. Missed last 5 games of season. Vikings went from NFC Ship appearance to a 5-11 season.
03: Faulk- Ankle injury. Failed to reach 1,000 yards rushing. The Rams had been to 2 of the last 3 Super Bowl's, but failed to reach the playoffs in 03.
04: Vick- Broken leg. Only played 5 games in 2004.
05: Lewis- Wrist injury. Missed one game. Coming off a season with career high INT's, he failed to record 1. Following year tore his hamstring 6 games in.
06: McNabb- Sports hernia. Eagles were coming off an NFC Ship and Super Bowl appearance. When asked about the curse, "might be a trend, but I don't believe in the curse at all." McNabb suffered a hernia week 1, and played the next 7 games hurt. Missed rest of the season after opting for surgery. Eagles finished last in NFC East. Next season McNabb tore his ACL week 11.
07: Alexander- Broken foot. Missed 6 games.
08: Young- Quadriceps injury. Missed 1 game. The first time in his High School, College, and Pro career that he missed a game. Following season lost his starting job after suffering a knee injury in the first game of the season.
09: Favre- Torn bicep/ ankle injury. Under the impression Favre was retired, he appeared on the cover as a Packer, but ended up playing the season as a Jet. Came out to a 8-3 record, before losing 4 of their last 5. Favre's statistics took a hit as well. The previous year saw Favre lead the Packers to a 13-3 record, a 95.7 passer rating, 28 TDs 15 INTs and threw for over 4000 yards. For the Jets Favre led his team to a 9-7 record, a 81 passer rating, 22 TDs 22 INTs and threw for 3,400 yards.
10: Fitzgerald- If anyone broke the curse it was him. Started all 16 games, Cards went 2 rounds in the playoffs, 97 receptions, over 1,000 yards receiving, and a career high 13 TDs. Missed Pro Bowl due to rib injury.
10: Polamalu- Sprained MCL/ PCL. First game of the year he sprains his MCL. Misses 4 games, comes back and plays 3 than injures his PCL. Steelers failed to reach the playoffs with a 9-7 record.
11: Brees- Coming off a Super Bowl victory, he played every game of the season but his passer rating dropped 20 points due to throwing twice the amount of INTs as the year before (22). Made the playoffs but lost to the 7-9 Seahawks in the first round.
12: Hillis - Hamstring/ Strep throat. Injured his hamstring in practice of week 9. He ended up missing 6 games. After rushing for over 1,000 yards the year before, Hillis failed to reach 600. When asked about his decline in production Hillis responded with, "Things didn't work in my favor this year. There's a few things that happened this year that made me believe in curses. Ain't no doubt about it."
13: Johnson- Statistically the best year for a receiver ever (yards). Broke Jerry Rice's single season receiving yards record with 1 game to spare. After contending for the division, the Lions have lost 7 straight since week 9 and have fallen out of the playoff race.
