Nakamura winning and them crowning a Japanese champion for the first time is more of a "Wrestlemania Moment" for em, so I can see that being their pick. That's something they can put on a headline for ESPN. That's one of the only things I think they care about these days since they're a publicly traded company and need to be a presence on social media. The first so and so moment, with hey look, this "celebrity" showed up at Wrestlemania ... it's all for their main audience as much as their casual fans and outsiders.

They also had them both win the Rumble and no one said "You can only have one Japanese wrestler win per PPV." Besides the World Title is a bigger deal than the Smackdown Woman's championship, so naturally Nakamura would be a bigger story regardless. While I like Asuka a lot, I doubt they're thinking of her to make them some headlines right now. I'm thinking they are gonna end the streak for Asuka sooner than later anyways, as you can't keep that streak thing going on forever. Win or lose for her, it won't be a big deal outside of the WWE. Seriously, you could even see that when Nakamura won the Rumble on the same night it was talked about more.

No, what I said is truth. ESPN and the mainstream was talking about Nakamura winning the Royal Rumble, not Asuka. That was the first Woman's Royal Rumble match in WWE history, and it got no big coverage. All anyone cared about with that match, was seeing Trish Stratus and others return for a minute and that's it. Matter of fact, that match sucked and it wasn't even spoken about afterwards. Asuka is fine where she's at, but she's not going to make headlines for the WWE this year, streak intact or no. I mean, Nakamura is also "headlining Wrestlemania" as well as a load of other wrestlers. So what. Japan would even go crazier for Nakamura winning than Asuka, so my perception ain't off

I think Nakamura is winning because in the next upcoming draft it doesn't make sense to have 2 World Champions on the same brand. Also, it doesn't make sense to put the strap on Nakamura at the next PPV when it could be done at WrestleMania.
