Im surprised there hasnt been a class action lawsuit for this used games thing. How is this legal. How can you get money each time a game is sold like a tax?
Yup, that's exactly what it seems like. Regarding Yoshida, I think it was ok for him to say it'll "play used games" without specifying that you can play used games completely restriction free.

Trying to pull a bait and switch so when MS announces they are blocking used games and people groan,Sony comes out and say they aren't going to block used games and look like the good guys?
They're being VERY vague about it, don't bet on it working out the way we would expect. Online passes have already been done, if it was only online passes sony would have said so instead of letting this linger. Sony is having internal conversations about how to combat use games i doubt Microsoft solution has anything to do with theirs.

What makes you think they want more then 9.99 and if its only sony and ea titles, how does this effect buying used games from other devs. Isnt it the publishers that want this? You almost sound more offended about online passes then you do about not being able to play used games at all, MICROSOFT.
If 9.99 was enough we wouldn't be having this conversation and Sony wouldnt be providing vague responses. Gamestops profit margins is 10x better then the 9.99 dollars from select online customers.

I got into a big debate with a developer that I met through one of my friends. He was going on and on about how studios lose money on used games (blah, blah, blah) specifically small studios. If smaller studios are behind this then I don't see how it helps at all. Wouldn't this just make people a lot less likely to give unknown titles a chance than they would have before?

No not at all instead of Lil joey getting skylanders for 20 dollars used the parents will pay 30 to the publisher(just an example). The issue isnt even with us consumers its with gamestop profiting and selling used games less then 5 dollars off of full price
