I've said it before, I have no doubt that Aaron had problems with the studio execs, but at the same time, c'mon man. It was taking like 2 and 3 years to get a season done. If you are going to do the show then do it. I still believe some of the fault lies at the feet of Aaron. Such a good show man c'mon put the shyt out. And if you can't put them out every year or at least every 2 years, then let the fans know whats up. I remember dudes would come to the Coli and be like, oh sh!t, a new Boondocks season is dropping and it would never happen. It would be like another 2 or 3 years before it ever came to pass. Is it really that difficult to drop a 30 minute animated show every other year?

Truth. At one point we were looking at what, 3 seasons.. in 8 years? That's just ridiculous. Several years would go by in which I would forget that the show even existed.. which is sad given how much i adored that first season. Also, like others said, after s1, the ensuing seasons became more and more hit or miss.. esp s3.

More so,
  • No Caesar
  • No real growth in Huey Riley or Jazmine's characters. Each of them represented a distinct trope (the cynic black militant, the rebellious wanna be gangsta, and the 'little black biracial girl lost' identity shtick) and while I thought there were episodes that did a great job of showcasing who they were at their default state (the s1 "passion of ruckus' is my favorite and definitive Huey Freeman ep).. 8 years later it just feels like nothing was added on to them.. like Jazmine is as much a polar opposite to Huey as Riley is, so exploring the subtle hints that she had a crush on Huey where that shyt gets addressed by seasons end would've been a nice back story to have had to a season.. or seeing some sibling development between Huey and Riley, especially in regards to their outlook and everything regarding their parents

I felt the characters were strong enough for continuing back stories and development that would add to the social commentary theme (given their tropes).. but when those rumors came out years ago that aaron was thinkin about making an uncle ruckus movie in which none of the other characters would make an appearance.. well then i started to question the direction this franchise was going.. and that was after x amount of years had been passing between each season.

Everybody blaming Aaron but Aaron wanted to be DONE after Season 3. S3 was supposed to be the final season and was billed as such right from the S3 trailer (the one that had exhibit C) . Aaron was indeed working on Season 4 after changing his mind, there was supposed to be an episode where Huey fell in love, and a confirmed Ceaser appearance, but the Studio didn't want to wait. The thing is that The Boondocks is Aaron's life work. Who the fukk are ANY of us to judge that man and critique how he goes about perfecting something HE created in college. He toiled over that comic strip for years and toiled over the first season. Got rejected by Fox and Comedy Central, and then has to deal with whiny impatient studio execs who have NO IDEA (as evidenced in the Mcgruderless Season 4) how to realize HIS vision.....

Boondocks has always been half decent/half kind of bullshyt.

It's already been replaced by something better anyway.
