Uh

Yea but they're saying it like they have control over what happens they don't

No this is a standard PR statement that locks Microsoft up when johnny law starts looking into monopolies. Microsoft is gonna have to explain how they are still 3rd in gaming revenue and that activision and blizzard games will still release multiplatform in some way.

They can ultimately do whatever they want, but it sets a precedent that sony at least gets to keep whatever they paid for in the unforeseeable future

Let gaming fandom get in the way of good business, breh.

Neither company has to try to put the other out of business to succeed. The smart play really just might be continuing to publish those games on Playstation. Even if we just kept it simple and said that Sony takes 30% of ALL sales, it's hard to pass up the other 70% when you weren't getting it before. Then they can play the game with making it free on Gamepass, and likely not participating in deep discounting as frequently on the PlayStation store so that XBox is still positioned long term as a better value. Assuming that even half of the playerbase for these Activision games are going to run out and get an XBox is math that most analysts would tell you is very wishful thinking.

Sony has given its first public response to Microsoft's agreed acquisition of Activision Blizzard, and suggested that it expects many of the games that fall under the deal to remain available on PlayStation platforms.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, a spokesperson for Sony said: “We expect that Microsoft will abide by contractual agreements and continue to ensure Activision games are multiplatform.”

Activision publishes some of the best-selling games on PlayStation, including the Call of Duty series. Sony’s comments here suggest it expects Activision titles, such as Call of Duty, will stay on PlayStation after Microsoft’s acquisition has been finalized.

Sony sound defeated. Microsoft don't have to honor contract obligation at all. They can force Sony hand and say hey you can have these titles but put Gamepass on your system.

Crazy Microsoft bought every publisher Sony tried to or did have exclusivity rights with.

Why you can't with me???? Their money maker was bought by a competitor and they lost 20 billion in less than 24 hours... the only comment they could make is that we hope they honor their contract agreements. That is some defeated shyt
