i thought that last spiderman 2 flopped

Artistically it did flop, but it still made money but they might be inclined to working with disney if it helps the bottom line.

But Sony is the one that need help to refresh spidy. Disney/marvel dont have to do shyt and they still eating off spidy anyways

Yeah i think sony would allow this crossover to happen if they can have marvel's writers and a fresh start... but eating off spidey isnt good if over time people dont want to see him on the screen. I mean they didnt have to reboot the spiderman story from scratch, they could have just recasted peter and mj and started from there... That was the first big mistake...

They were going to have to do something with it though because they effectively ended spider-man. He forgave the guy who killed his uncle (sandman smh) and forgave himself, thus eliminating the driving force behind the character

What's the old saying? the never ending battle....

They could have did a soft boot placed the new spiderman about 2 years after part 3.... with him and mj being engaged and then comes the sinister six. but stupid asses over at sony wanted a reboot.... FROM SCRATCH!

Yeah but again, why is he spider-man? That's what I'm saying breh. It would be the same thing if they didn't reboot batman after Dark knight rises. Now was there an easier possibly smarter way to do it? Yes but you had to take him back to square one because you've taken away the key character motivation. Once you take away key character motivation you've cut your character or ended him. Once Batman says he's over his parents death and wants to live a normal life, he ain't batman anymore. Once Spider-Man grows up and decides to let go of his guilt and forgive himself and his uncle's killer, he isn't spider-man anymore. He has no need

But also you can show him after he's moved on in life... growing up and being a different spiderman, just because his motivations have changed doesnt mean he will never stop being spiderman, you would have to give him a strong reason to be spiderman again... They could have started off with a sinister six movie as garfield as an older parker working in horizon labs, and he comes outta retirement, shyt like that.

It's the same rationale that was used in the dark knight rises. bruce wayne retired batman, but bane came he needed to become batman again. they could have worked a similar angle to spidey.

But Batman is a character who can work as an adult in that situation. Older Peter still going through the same hangups he went through as a teen or young adult is kinda sad and not showing any growth. I don't want to see an early-mid 30s Peter Parker still dealing with guilt and anguish and angst. He works best in that age of discovery. And the way MJ was written, she needed to go. :camby:I feel where you're coming from breh but Peter works best and has always worked best when that guilt over one decision drove him.

Bruce retired but it wasn't like he forgot about his parents or forgot about Rachel. Something drove him out of retirement because he was looking for "a good death" and he didn't physically think he could do it anymore. But like I said, you can do old man Bruce and it still fits the character.
