Where does it says it's limiting the resolution?

It doesn't at all. Brehs just about as bad as that old family member that believes everything they see online at this point.

This was already debunked on era....yall hate on that site but they actually got people that know what they’re talking about:

This is an absolutely nonsensical way to read it. I've read the whole contract prior to its public release on social medias and there's nothing out of the ordinary there.

There's no "forced parity" mandated. That clause is just Sony making sure they aren't getting a botched version, or one that wouldn't fully use the power of its hardware. It doesn't imply even one second that concurrent, more powerful platforms cannot look better. This very part says that it's subject to the platform power.

And a one year subscription exclusivity is just standard practice for a service provider. Both Xbox and Playstation, not to mention Stadia, are doing it. It's how concurrency works.”

It's not forced parity, per se. As Passing Assassin explained above, it's just so they don't get a version that doesn't use the entire hardware repertoire of the console or it's wildly inferior to other versions. There's a reason it says (Subject to material platform limitations). They're not going to go to the PC version and demand it looks and plays the same, same with Xbox, Stadia, etc.”

Couldn't that also be read as the PS5 version will be the superior version (outside of the PC) and if the competition has a better version, it would be to be brought down so that it is on par with the PS5 version?

(Publisher will ensure that each version of the game available PS Platform maintains content, feature, and technical parity (subject to material platform limitations) with any equivalent version of the game or DLC released on any other competitive platforms or PC/Mobile platform or an exclusive basis)

I'm not saying they will, but the wording, to me, leaves the door open.
This is specifically not what it means.

It means that Capcom has the obligation to maintains RE Village up to date content, feature and graphics wise for the next seven years. The wording isnt vague or ambiguous in the slightest. This obligation is up to the platform limitations. I have no idea how this can be read as "omg xbox version will be worse than it could be". It means that Capcom has to keep RE8 as good as it can, and not make xbox/concurrent platform-exclusive features, content updates, graphical upgrades, for the remainer of the generation. And this is a very standard clause, all contracts probably includes something similar to it.

That’s how I read it.
So let’s say the PS5 version of a game is 1800p check board and 60fps, the XSX version isn’t allowed to be native 2160p?

No.
If all the PS5 could output was 1800p, if that was the platform limitation (literal wording of the clause), then how high the Xbox version could go is irrelevant, it could do 4K or 8k, it doesn't matter. The point of this clause is to make sure Capcom uses the power of the PS5 hardware to make the best version possible, on par with the other platforms respective to all material limitations.

It's basic reading of a contract clause. I'm amazed that so many people are struggling to comprehend that.

There's nothing about resolution in there though. Technical parity can mean anything such as the game shouldn't run like shyt (bugs, glitches, missing features respectable to another platform). Think Skyrim, Cyberpunk, etc. If Sony was limiting something as specific as resolution, you don't think they would specifically spell that out in whatever legal binding document (I'm presuming) this is?

And doesn't this game run at 4K on both systems? Is the argument then that Sony is limiting it from running at 8K? :dwillhuh:

I'll go ahead and keep it 100, I'm not really bothered by this. I guess I figured by now most gamers that are really into gaming news and rumors or just the industry should know... or pretty much assume this is the case. All signs point to this being a on going thing for years, and nothing about it really strikes me as weird. It's not good for gaming as a whole but at the same time it's business... And maybe it's just what I come to expect from sony in particular so I'm not blown away by it.

It just seems like business.

But it also makes sense why microsoft seems to really have thrown down the gloves and got aggressive, I'm also impressed phil has kept his cool when in the back he knows stuff like this is being written up. When it's all said and done MS has been keeping it really civil if this is what being kicked around in the background.
