Not really. Companies buy stakes in private companies all the time. I know Sony bought into Epic games earlier this year.

I think the worst news is probably for Bandai Namco as this cuts them out as middlemen (publishing partners in the west) for their games. They were just saying how acquisitions are making it harder for them to get publishing deals and now this…

Not a fan of the Souls games but this is pretty big news for gamers. Maybe an authentic Bloodborne 2 might really happen.
