His fam(mom and kids) are the beneficiaries , they don’t make any decisions regarding what’s done.

And it doesn't help your immediate family is a bunch of dumb a$$holes for selling off your legacy either...:what:
His family hasn’t done anything

The fact that these cacs will now forever own MJs music and legacy is sickening. His kids and family will never see any of his profits. Hov, Diddy and Oprah should have pooled together to stop this shyt from happening. They will do the same thing to all our black icons while letting the white ones continue to feed their families after they die.
MJs estate own his music and others in MIJAC. The estate sold off other publishing catalogs he owned.

I hope my future kids don't do anything this stupid with my (Novels) works if I die...:snoop: Like selling them off for fukking peanuts...:birdman:
His kids didn’t do anything.

You nikkas stupid, and don’t know basic math?

They bought emi, which Michael state owns 9%.
Emi is in the fukking hole, losing money. He got rid of an asset with debit, and still got out of it with almost 300mill.

The state still owns mj publishing rights and all of its shyt.

The deal concerns other company and assets. Y’all at least read before say something like they’re giving out gold in exchange of crumbles. If the company was profitable, they would get a lot more than that
Yes it’s a good deal. I just wish they had got more for SONY/ATV

Low key, Paul McCartney is somewhere smiling. About to get his publishing back.
Not unless he can come up with hundreds of millions cash. He should have purchased it when offered back in the 80s

He was about to get it back anyhow. You rights revert back to you after 56 years

The U.S. Copyright Act of 1967 was passed as a means to let songwriters regain the rights to their songs — the law states that for songs published before 1978, rights can be reverted back to the original author after 56 years (or for songs published in or after 1978, the song’s rights can be recaptured after 35 years).

The fist beatles songs were made in 1962......

His kids didn’t do anything.

All things considered the kids should be the "ESTATE" if the kids are not making these decisions why is the so called "ESTATE" doing these deals unilaterally??? :jbhmm: See what I'm saying only the family should be making these decisions not lawyers with no oversight...

1 billion bucks is peanuts? If your kids don't know what to do with them and they are not getting a good return, they should sell it to someone for who it is a lot more valuable to. Just like all the small startup firms doing exists because they don't really have the scale, knowledge or money to make it earn. But to Google or Apple that might be a gold mine.

And it's not your novels they are selling, it's the rights to novels that you bought cheaply.

:what: you know how hard it is to actually write books... the fact remains yes books are a different medium than music but I don't want my kids to get screwed look at the family that sold their rights to the godfather the movie studio screwed them over and they had to sue them to get royalties off it.

Who's to say my kids wont make a billy from my works I'd be proud but let's be real here every time we hear about Estates and a musicians family it's fukking bad news where the family is getting screwed over by the music labels because they stop at nothing to have these catalogs... it seems that the family doesn't see the importance of a recurring royalty check that passed down through the generations...:ld:

And lastly you don't BUY your rights to the novel if your the author, once you copyright them under your own name YOU OWN IT until the time of death...:stopitslime:

MJS ESTATE STILL OWNS MIJAC WICH INCLUDES HIS PUBLISHING AND OTHER ARTIST AS WELL. THEY ALSO OWN THE RIGHTS, LICENSE, ETC TO HIS IMAGE, LIKENESS, ETC

Founded by Jackson in 1980 as his personal publishing company, Mijac Music grew into a formidable catalog, including his own compositions as well as the Sly and the Family Stone catalog and songs by the legendary Philadelphia soul team of Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff, as well as songs made famous by other artists such as Ray Charles, Elvis Presley and Aretha Franklin.

he Mijac catalog includes all of the songs written by Jackson, including “Another Part Of Me,” “Bad,” “Beat It,” “Billie Jean,” “Black or White,” “Can You Feel It,” “Dangerous,” “Dirty Diana,” “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” “Earth Song,” “Heal the World,” “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You,” “Jam,” Scream,” “Smooth Criminal,” “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “They Don’t Care About Us,” “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’,” “We Are the World” and “Say Say Say” and “The Girl Of Mine,” the latter two of which he recorded with Sir Paul McCartney.

Jackson’s first acquisition in 1983 was the catalog of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artist Sylvester Stewart, aka, Sly Stone. Thereafter, Mijac went on to acquire thousands more songs, including “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now,” “After Midnight,” “Ease on Down the Road,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher,” “I Got A Woman,” “If You Don’t Know Me By Now,” “Love Train,” “Mr. Bojangles,” “People Get Ready,” “Runaround Sue,” “Shake, Rattle and Roll,” “Sixteen Candles,” “The Wanderer,” “What’d I Say,” “When a Man Loves a Woman” and “You Don’t Know Me”.
