I wanna know too...my parents are from there....
my mom is from Gary...when she was growing up it was how Chicago is now...but Chicago has always been violent and crazy...thats why when I visited I'd always go to Blue Island or Markham with my grand parents....Now that I am older i'll go to the southside and visit my cousins too...

@ nikkaz about to argue about worst cities again. but on the real though what's going on in chicago is no different from what's going on in or went on in other cities. this type of shyt ebb and flow with time and i guess chicago is flowing now. i remember when nyc had about 2000 murders a year in the early 90's now it's the safest big city in the us.
It was always bad in the hood, but the fact that they tore down the project buildings and dispersed those nikkas throughout the hood created more beef, then to add to that, most of the gang leaders are locked up, so there's no semblance of order or accountability at all.
Yeah bruh I agree with the others, chicago is an anomaly... shyt is approaching 3rd world status. No other major u.s. city is going through this at this level
Chicago has like 3 million ppl, and getting a lil over 400 murders
Philly has a lil over a million people and gets almsot 400
Detroit has 800,000 and gets 400
The worst neighborhood in LA had the same murder rate as the worst neighborhood in Chicago in 2011
