It's easy and tough at the same time...

First, it's easy because there are a ton of titles of major characters that they've relaunched following Secret Wars....everything basically starts over again...all major titles...

What sucks is that there are TOO many titles...too many Spidermans...too many X Men, Avengers titles etc....and to top it off they limit them to like 25 books or so...So if you get into a title...count on it only being around for about 3 years , then they just dead it...and they're expensive as hell now. If you go to a comic store to browse...you'll be completely overwhelmed.

Way back back in the day...if you're like me...an Uncanny X men title was $1 on the newsstand and the series was a continuation from 1963...fast forward 25+ years and them shyts is $4 per title...not including variants and the storylines are limited and zig zag like a MF.

It aint like it used to be...Marvel flooded the game, they're getting out of control. I also think someof the story lines have gotten way TOO complicated.

I'm in the same boat but I stopped reading on the regular in like 2001. I was really angry how they messed up the X-Men. Is Extraordinary X-Men worth a look? Also what about DC when it comes to the New 52 mainly Batman and The Flash?
Whedon's run with Astonishing X-Men would be a good place to start. That's when Scott truly started to become a bad bad man. X-Factor a little after that was fukking dope too.

whats happening with spidy? I stopped reading once secret war started

Parker industries is worldwide now and he's got upgraded tech, using all of his knowledge to the best of his abilities and similar to Tony's old cover, Spider-Man is his bodyguard and normally when they show up in the same place, it's the prowler in costume as spider-man so peter can keep up the secret identity. Norman is back though although Pete doesnt know it yet so everything is going really well for him...which means it's going to get really bad

A combination of reading more omnibus' (omnibii??) and grabbing a bunch of these hip hop variants that have been dropping since October have been getting me back into it and I'm really enjoying myself. All of the variants are for #1's so I can just jump into any of these that actually grab me in. Liked Daredevil, new Hulk, etc. and have been taking down some more complete collections for Deadpool, Moon Knight and Doctor Strange.

Had a sister ask me what I wanted for xmas, couldn't really think of anything practical so I told her grab me this

Heard really good things about IDW's new turtles. Read the first three issues and have been really impressed with the direction. Feels a lot more gritty a la the original Eastman and Laird books.

Have a local comic book store chain that has two locations nearby so between those and amazon, access to anything is possible :obama:
