Pretty much. He was over as shyt and the fans (and Vince) loved him, but he was pretty reckless in the ring with both others and himself. Injuries basically killed him. He was basically a more appealing Black Ryback.

In the WWF Ahmed was not moonsaulting off the top ropes. He was a powerhouse with intensity that was squashing various dudes on the way to getting high profile matches. That is exactly Ryback. Only difference is Ryback was able to stave off multiple injuries for awhile until later in the WWE, and that people cared more about Ahmed then just a catchphrase and finisher. It’s not a lowball comparison at all.
